I'm rather liberal, but I do see his point. It's shit when you're into something a little bit niche, and that niche suddenly becomes a major trend. You feel cheated out of your interest because you're often seen as just another person who jumped on the bandwagon.

Also, with things like beards, some people can't grow real ones (me included) and shit ones give real ones a bad rap.

OP - my husband would be in agreement with you. He and his brother often comment on all the young men sporting beards - i.e. how they are all (well nearly all) "human sheep" - they reckon it's a very common phenomenon (human sheep) and one that's increasing with the internet age and so-called celeb culture (e.g. the sleeve tattoo trend too). As my other half always says, "Be a real good example of yourself - not a poor imitation of someone else"

I had a beard years before it went mainstream, I've had to be clean shaven for work for the last few years though so escaped the hipster trend.

I've noticed the in thing now has evolved from having a sleeve tattoo to also having a big piece across the throat. Now don't get me wrong I like tattoos and have several myself, but I've always thought there was something a bit scummy looking about neck ones and can't help thinking some of these hipsters will seriously regret having them...

The thing these days regarding image is to please oneself and not be concerned about whether others find this attractive. I am starting to realise how different I am from others, in that it’s more important to me to be sexually attractive to as many of my target market as possible, than to preserve my self image. Example, I love my hair blonde, I think it suits me, so I keep on dying it. And of course I wouldn’t change that just for a shag. However if me dying my hair consistently prevented me having fun on the swing scene and consistently prevented me from being sexually attractive to my target market. I would not be ashamed at all in making sure the blonde hair goes. Same way if men consistently recoiled at the sight of my nipple piercings, I would take them out. I’ve already stated in this thread that the only reason I shave my pussy is because men want it. If requested I would grow it back, but the men I have played with in recently years have told me they find a hairy pussy a turn-off, and I don’t want them to find me a turn-off. In these situations i don’t see that being true to my self image would be of any benefit to me.

Mostly because it appears untruthful to actively try to please people, and in the grand scope of human civilization, truthfulness has been something that's been held in high regard.

I know loads of guys who don't particularly find their beards comfortable, but they put up with them because they're currently a hot fashion statement, and a lot of women seem to have become pogonophiles lately. It's essentially a mask these guys are wearing to draw in women and, in most cases, is not something they're wearing for an inwardly personal reason or preference.

If they cant be honest with themselves, what makes anyone think they'll be honest to others.

I don’t think doing something that is uncomfortable in order to attract others sexually is being dishonest. It might be foolish, but not dishonest. For example I find it uncomfortable to shave down below, and only do so because more men than not have said they find pubic hair a turn-off. I don’t want these men to find me a turn off, so I will shave. I’m not being dishonest though. In fact I will openly admit that I am doing this to please. With regards to fashion, I admit I am a slave to it. Some may well disapprove that I like to do things to either follow fashion or to please others, but I’m not being dishonest.

Lol had a guy in club tell me I looked scruffy and should shave and have a beard like his.. he had tiny bit of fluff under chin.

He then babbled about testosterone, when I pointed out my youngest son had more of a beard than him.

Im old I have a beard, wife loves it, I like it and if it puts women off in club then meh im happy with wife.

It looked like he had eye lashes under his chin.

Ultimately we all want to attract a playmate or partner so will act and dress accordingly. Personally I grew my beard as my late dad had one years ago. I love it, some people do, others don’t which is their choice and I respect that. If pleasing others makes you happy then you carry on

Exactly! As one of those who actually started the trend and didn't shave long before it became a fashion statement, it can be particularly annoying when people think you're following a fashion fad. A male lion must have a mane. I will still have mine after all the hipsters have moved on to the handlebar mustache.

Me personally I’ve never gone more than 4 days with out shaving and that was during a hospital stay and shaved as soon as I possibly could! Just don’t feel clean unless I’ve showered and shaved in morning!

I prefer clean shaven, however beards suit some men. Nothing worse than seeing a man with bits of mess stuck in his beard which I’ve experienced on a meet (not a Fab man), I could not wait to get away!
