Because they may not want to be bombarded by men, and wish to do their own searching.
They may have changed their minds recently.
Because they can.
Why worry about it, concentrate your effort so on those who do state they want to meet men.

We very occasionally meet single men, but as this isn’t hard to arrange, we prefer not to field 10-20 messages a day, so have blocked single men. Our choice. Others have different filters so they would be the ones for you OP. |

Maybe there were verified by couples and they have since split up and the account has changed to a single male so the verification changes it’s happened to us in a few occasions |
