After a discussion with a friend he asked what is swinging he interrupted me "I should imagine you meet people online..."
He said "So that would make me a swinger then".
So the question is do people partake in what we would call swinging without thinking they are swingers/Swinging |

I see swinging as more than casual hookups between singles. I don't think you can unwittingly be a swinger.

I tell people I'm not a swinger as I won't go to a club. I much prefer getting to know someone through chatting a few days/weeks/months than turning up to a club to fuck someone I barely know.

For me, I think ‘swinging’ is more an attitude than a ‘behaviour’
‘Swingers’ are more open minded & less judgemental about sex & other swingers.
If I went to a bar & met a guy and slept with him, and then the next night slept with his friend, chances are when they spoke about it, I’d be called a slag.
Swingers don’t have that same mind set; they understand that different people play in different ways, which gives us all the freedom to enjoy ourselves as we choose to  |

Think what you’re describing is casual sex, definitely not swinging! As someone else says above, to us, swinging is more about your mentality that your actions!
Without wanting to open the debate as to whether singles can ever be swingers which has been done to death in the past, we would suggest that a lot of singles on this site are in fact not swingers, whereas others may well be depending on how they view their own activities and those others!
Being willing to fuck someone else’s partner doesn’t necessarily make you a swinger, however, if you wouldn’t be willing to share your own partner if you got one, from our perspective, you’re not a swinger!
We stand by to lambasted for that opinion but we stand by it! It also doesn’t matter to us if you’re a swinger or not, if we fancie you and you fancie us we’ll happily fuck you regardless of what you are! Unless we know you’re cheating on someone, that’s our only no-go!

We often go into a pub , and my wife will cop off with a guy . She tells him I am about and that I enjoy watching her have fun . 99% of the guys she meets are cool with that , and they crack on . |

True , but they are aware of what we do and how we do it .
So since we engage in voyeuristic fun with others the others are swinging with us as I see it . They perhaps wouldn’t call themselves swingers , that much is true , but they are a welcome addition to our swinging experience |

Definitely they’re a part of the swinging experience from your perspective, but from theirs, as you say - they probably wouldn’t
Hence the difference between Swingers & casual shaggers ... it’s a perspective/ attitude / outlook more than the actual activity (in my humble opinion anyway!) |

I always thought it was really only a term that applied for couples (and still do really), but not according to the urban dictionary (or a few other dictionaries I spotted when I googled it):
