You are taking the piss...... seriously?
I got “dragged” to see this by a local lady from here when it was on the cinema....... We damn near wet ourselves laughing at it. Basically did a “gogglebox” on it and were nearly thrown out!
Against my better judgement I let her talk me into taking her to see the second one...... we both fell asleep half way through!
It’s absolutely dire! |

"I'm currently at work and a woman opposite me is sat reading Darker, which is the sequel to 50 shades. How strange! "
She brought toilet paper with her to work, how considerate |

Crap book. Writer needs to learn how to put sentences together. Wouldn't have sold so much if not for the subject matter. Film was alright if you just look at it as an exploration of a relationship dynamic. A lot of people slag it off for not being true to the BDSM scene, but there is only so much you can show in a mainstream film.
As for the sequel I have not seen it. |

"I've always really enjoyed the 50 Shades books and films.
The weird snobbery around it amuses me though."
Listened to the first one on audio driving to a work meeting with customer. Was a nice chilled fun meeting |

It's not snobbery in my opinion. I love to read and enjoy a vast array of genres, including erotica.
Personally I hated 50 shades for a lot of reasons and all of them good reasons in my opinion. Not enjoying 50 shades doesn't make me a snob just means I have an opinion like you.

I didn't specifically say you. But there are alot of people who enjoy hating 50SOG, often having never even seen it. They read a review on the internet and regurgitate it as a 'reason' that they don't like it. Just to sound cool.
Often you find that he people most vehement in their dislike of 50SOG are people who weren't actually into kink before it came out, and who seem to want to create the illusion that they didn't actually get into it because it was all over the the media... |

And usually the people who don’t know it started as amateur twilight fan fiction. For that it’s actually excellent if you know the story in detail and how she’s mirrored it. |
