I don't think you will see these on a guy's profile and yet guys are accused of everything.

If that's not my thing?! Why don't you just state what you are and just leave it at that; rather than putting up walls from the word go?

I am uncut/ cut; if that's not your thing jog on.....

I'm bald/ shaved; if that's not your thing.....

I'm white/black/brown; if that's not your thing, do one.

What's that all about?

"If it's not your thing dude, move on "

Nothing wrong with moving on. Its being told to move on if you like that is off putting.

If there’s something that specifically puts you off, where’s the harm in saying so? Saves an interested party from spending valuable time writing a taylor made message if they tick the ‘no way’ box.

No, you missed the point we were making. This is what were saying: why do women see the need to say things like, " I am a big girl; if it ain't your thing, move on", " I have lots of tats; if it ain't your thing, pass me by". Is it not better to simply state your stats, if you may, without the added confrontational and aggressive appendage, "if it ain't your thing..."

It smacks a bit of low self confidence to me.

Or maybe it smacks a bit of people having experienced those that don't "move on" and feel the need to comment and/or time waste regardless

Oh, I see now.

I was going to put “I’m steaming hot. If that’s not your thing; jog on”

Is that not a good idea?

Will I get no messages as a result?

It's about clarity. It's needed because people will talk to you and then say you're too fat, or they didn't realise you were Asian/black, or not even bother explaining before blocking you or going silent.

I've had a couple's profile ask my dress size, then say sorry too big.

What people choose to write on their profile really doesn't bother me, they can do what they like. I will either be attracted to it or not.

Also, you can point people in the direction of your profile when they start asking questions.

I genuinely don't get why it matters

They are saying it to save wasting time in my eyes.

Whether they have low self esteem or not is not for you to worry about.

Yep, their profile, their choice to put what they want on it.

Your own profile and by all means put whatever you want on there.

My profile, my stuff...

My pictures, my stuff...

My car, I drive the way I want...

My fingers, I stick them wherever

Etc, etc.

May I take this opportunity to squeeze in this: my thread, my opinion.

The same point you try to use in shutting down a discussion can be used to shut everything you say down.

My thread, my opinion. Follow the logic.

Others are putting their opinions, just because they aren't in agreement with yours doesn't make it any less of an opinion. This is what a forum is for, discussing topics and airing different opinions.

Well well well, having read through whatever is up here, I think you are merely spearheading a view of ITS THEIR PROFILE, THEY CAN WRITE WHATEVER.

Op is right. You are not discussing what he has put on the table. You don't have to agree with the topic sentence. But for God sake do not try to shut down debate by insisting: its their profile bla bla. Look, its been overdone. I've seen it over the years.

Rather than genuine discussions, some people just dive in with the blanket ITS THEIR CHOICE answer.

Let me give you an example of genuine discussion.

Why do you say x y or z. I have noted what you are saying but this is what I also think. I do not agree because of x y z. Not a lazy arse: ITS THEIR CHOICE SO SHUT UP.

That's not a flipping debate or discussion. Everybody has as much right to speak their minds.

By the way, I agree that part of a profile is unnecessary. I just move on even if I like what I see; purely based on that part of a profile if they have it.

"I don't think you will see these on a guy's profile and yet guys are accused of everything.

If that's not my thing?! Why don't you just state what you are and just leave it at that; rather than putting up walls from the word go?

I'm bald/ shaved; if that's not your thing.....

I get the point you're making OP. I find people's choice of language when they write their profiles interesting. Two people can be declaring the same preference but the language they use to communicate it can be totally different and set a completely different tone to the profile.

I often judge profiles as much by the way they construct their profile and their choice of words as I do what the profile actually says.

I agree with the "if that's not your thing" observation. It's another way of saying if you don't like it that's your problem, which is defensive and not a great way to make yourself attractive or easily approachable.

In defense of those (mainly women) who use that kind of language, they have more than likely suffered a lot of shite on here which has conditioned them into taking a defensive approach.

It's a shame.

I hate this, quite a few of the bigger ladies on here say it, I usually stop reading and click off their profile
