No, and frankly I prefer it when people do, shows they're thinking about their health. We do tend to ask if it's not mentioned in the course of discussion. Only once has a guy thrown a strop having taken offence.
PP what about people who go to clubs? Why are they any different? |

Fab can also be the 'flagship' to eating the crayons.
Don't eat the crayons mate."

Doesn't bother me at all and if I have any slip ups I always have the conversation with the other person as well, never had anyone take it offensive so far, thank goodness |

I'm tested and STI free.
Do you believe me? Anyone can say it but who can prove it?
Who waits the two weeks between testing and results before having sex?
I know I'm tested and STI free but I wouldn't expect anyone to believe me and I wouldn't take someone's word for it!
This place is full of liars who will say anything to get in your pants.
I rekon that 50/60% of people on this site have never set foot in a sexual health clinic in their lives! |

Took the words out of my mouth. I daresay if I was ever to ask that question and the reply was something along the lines of 'nah, not bothered about testing' I'd rethink a meet but the truth is, no news is good news when it comes to results and nobody can claim ever to be STI free. |

It wouldn't bother us if we were asked. It would also indicate to us that the person doing the asking were interested in looking after their sexual health too. |

Why? I go to clubs, I got tested 4 weeks ago. Your more likely to meet untested people in town on a Saturday night than you are in a swinger's club |

True but conversely if you are clear on the day of the test and then bareback some one and catch an STI, the clear test result would be worthless |

But you can only catch each sti once like measles etc. And if you bareback someone who's already had one then you catch the immunity through your dick, or vagjayjay. Fact. |

Well, technically it's worse than that. Hiv can take 12 weeks to show up, and in that time in can be passed on, but test clear.
Play safe and get tested for your own piece of mind long term. |

Asking puts some people off and frankly thats why we ask. The people it puts off are the kind of idiots you don't want to touch with a 60 foot pole. What possible reasons are there to get offended by being asked:
- you have something
- you're too stupid to know that condoms don't stop HPV or Herpes
- you think strangers should instantly trust one another (which is how you get something)
- you're too stupid to understand that filters don't have to be perfect in order to be useful
- you have a giant ego
Nope, can't think of any valid reasons to resent the question. |

HEAR HEAR!!!!!
Don’t forget that sometimes condoms break, accidents happen, some people who preach that they don’t ever BB really do, sometimes fluids are exchanged without penetration.... all risks.
It still amazes me that grown adults are so flippant in their attitude to their own sexual health. I would rather be asked when I was last tested. Nowt to be embarrassed about! |

I’ve found people more safe on here than in town. As I always ask. If you’re thinking of having sex I don’t see a problem asking first. I quite like it if they do. An the safe sex option on here, is helpful.

Exactly ....
A pointless exercise and asking is a red light to us as it's a bit like the white knights who come on the forums to try and look good . |

It would be pointless if:
- everybody answered the question
- everybody who answered was prepared to lie
- you had no way of knowing who was lying
- you'd never thought of a follow up question like "great can you share your results"
The simple fact is that many people refuse to answer, many confess they don't get tested and those that try to lie often block you when you ask something simple like "great are your results text or voicemail" (our local clinic only gives one).
So no, not pointless at all. Not perfect, not pointless. |

I don’t think it’s a pointless question. We had all sorts of answers ranging from ‘never’ to ‘4 years ago’ to ‘every 3 months without fail’. It’s only a discussion that we’ve ever had with regulars though. Us personally we aim to get tested about twice a year, and we’d be very happy to state that if asked. Sometimes it’s a good reminder that it’s time for another checkup.

I was going to do the single man comment that we never get to meet
But then I got a rare blood group and I do go to swinging clubs and sexually active and when I donate I get tested few weeks before by the same clinic and get a SMS message from same number so always got a history of my checks which anyone can check
I still get nervous waiting for the message that I'm clear like I no many of us do male or female
So it's important everyone should be responsible and for the likes of me I'm very careful I'm not the stereotype male balls for brains |

I like to ask because the answers or reactions can reveal a lot about a person. If someone gets offended by a simple question then they aren't someone I am interested in fucking anyway. Likewise, if the answer is "Never" or "I know I'm clean because I have never had any symptoms" I will always politely decline the offer to play with that person!
Having said that, the answer is somewhat irrelevant in the sense that even if someone told me that they had been recently tested, I still would never fuck a stranger bareback. |

There is almost no point asking as you should assume everyone is lying to you - unless you are going to demand paperwork. Even then the 'all clear' is only as good as the date.
I'd never be annoyed with a person asking if I 'knew my status' as responsible adults should know. However, I wouldn't expect them to take me at my word - nor would I believe them! |

Yes we get tested, yes we can show you our last results. We're still using condoms anyway. In our experience that will filter around 70% of couples here. |

Who said it was a guy? Assumptions abound!....The person involved was obviously unaware of their infection which must have been fairly recent as they had tested negative a few months earlier. |

Statistically it is far more likely to be a guy because of the probability of transmission, so yes an assumption but not an unreasonable one. Hats off to you for being upfront about it. |

How about ask and take precautions?
Indeed, ask AND take precautions.... I'm not the first and sure won't be the last!!
As an aside, what that guy did to you is illegal. Did you ever go to the police?
Who said it was a guy? Assumptions abound!....The person involved was obviously unaware of their infection which must have been fairly recent as they had tested negative a few months earlier.
Statistically it is far more likely to be a guy because of the probability of transmission, so yes an assumption but not an unreasonable one. Hats off to you for being upfront about it. "
I agree.... statistically the risk of transmission is higher, but a person recently infected has a very high viral load and therefore highly infectious.... HIV doesn't discriminate and can infect regardless of sexual orientation, colour or creed |
