They aren't pointless, they provide enjoyment to the members participating in them, that's what the forum is for.

It really is as simple as this 
Internet forums tend to be cyclical partly because there is only so many different subjects that can be covered on the same topic and partly because new users arrive and old ones depart but the new ones revive topics already covered because they're new to them.
It's fun that is sometimes informative, sometimes banal and others infuriating - the joy being we can each contribute as much or as little as we like |

As an ex moderator and group leader off another well known adult chat site, forum topics are generally same, but they are here to provoke communication and engage as sometimes people can better interact via forum chat than direct - each site has a similar group of sub groups and in each group and set of topics that are cyclical as mentioned above. Nobody including the OP can argue against them, but we can decide if we engage with them |
