"I have found that by and a large winks are a almost pointless function. Others thoughts?"
Winks are fantastic for ladies who dish them out.
Winks are good for couples who dish them out.
Winks are pretty much worthless for guys who dish them out. |

I very rarely look at winks but I have on occasion checked them, seen someone I liked winked them back, which resulted in them messaging me and us meeting.
Depends on the individual really |

This " Us too, actually recently received one from somebody on our hotlist, that we were planning on contacting. Notice them on the phone, but not on the laptop, so its not a given a wink will be seen for days sometimes, if at all... |

I just ignore them or delete them as id rather them send a message in the first place.
why be shy enough to send a wink and expect a message from the other person why not be the first to send a message.
ive never used a wink to show interest in a person either. |

If someone winks at us to show they're interested, we'll look at their profile, and if they look like someone we'd be interested in, we'll wink back...then it's up to them to get in touch. If there isn't much content on the profile, it's unlikely we'd respond.
So I'd say no, winks aren't necessarily pointless, but if you're really interested in someone, send them a well thought out message.

I've talked and arranged a meet through winking.
I've heard of others doing the same. It's not as pointless a feature as 'who's veiwed me'. Just my opinion, it means little. |

Agreed on the who's looked at me feature. The amount of times scrolling through the local update on the phone that opens a profile is vast. None of which were looked at
I'd guess many others do likewise. |

We only check out people from winks every now and then, we usually have lots and lots of them by then, and eventually give up.
We'd much prefer a simple "hi" as a message to be fair. |

Well put & exactly as we view them. So many wink expecting a message back tho which we dont do, if we wink back ball is in their court Fi x |

I qunite like them. I'll send one to see if I get one back. If I do I'll message or they'll have messaged me.
I look at my winks and see what they are like. |

I’m careful how I use them, sometimes I’ll wink if I’ve sent a lady a message which she hasn’t opened and sometimes it grabs their attention but on the whole they’re useless for guys.
If a lady winks me then there’s a rush of blood to head and I go bright red! |

To us, winks are acceptable and we always respond to them from couples (we're not really looking for singles).
There seems to be a strange expectation for people to jump through hoops on Fab. The whole 'if you're interested in me/us you'll write a really good, individual, message' is such bollocks. It smacks of some needy person wanting others to massage their ego.
You're meeting for a sex not for a job interview. |

It's obviously to show interest, I probably get 2 replies every 10-15 msgs I send so i can't be bothered to send everyone that catches my eye a msg- that would take all day. So I'll do me, and those that think they're too good for a wink that's fine, you do you. |

Just picking up on this thread......
A wink is a sign of appreciation of what you see/read on a persons profile - and if your fortunate to get one back, then at least you know there is something they like .......
Fabbing a picture however is different, that's pure simple perving at its best lol |

"We think winks are a good icebreaker. It shows people are taking notice of your profile
we have had some nice conversations from a wink. You can ignore them of course or take them as a compliment."
Done lol .... but being serious, your spot on its a recognition you like what you see etc |

They're a good tool, not everyone likes them, to us they are a polite hello. Either you like the person saying hello or you don't. Around 20% of the winks we've sent have had a reply, out of those we've had a couple of meets. We will always respond to couples or fems sending us a wink, but not single blokes as we're not looking for them. We almost always look at the winkers profile though, how much worth do you put on that? It all depends on the users. |

Winks are fantastic for ladies who dish them out.

That is exactly what I was thinking and most of the replies above would seem to validate it. |

I have winked by accident, and immediately messaged to apologise for the stray wink..I don't use them. If you are interested enough to wink, send a message..

No we don’t think winks are worthless, because sending a wink has got us meets. Will we respond to a wink? Yes we might do if the profile was sufficiently informative. Advantage of winks is that single guys don’t seem to expect a response to a wink the way some expect a response to a message, therefore it’s easier for us to process.

I have too. It can be a little awkward when that happens. |

I always wink first as I lost interest in writing out messages only to get no response. So I just use the wink and take it from there.
I completely understand why I’d not get a response btw, it must be a nightmare to read though hundreds of messages! |

Winks are a resource that some take advantage of and others don't. Those who don't seem just a little up themselves, the sort that require a full written application and passport photos because cocks are "all the same", well that's up to you but don't complain of missed opportunities and don't blame the sort of people you're looking for. maybe that single guy has been as long as you have and written so many applications for the post, he's feeling just a bit despondent.
If you ignore our winks, it's your lost opportunity |

"I have found that by and a large winks are a almost pointless function. Others thoughts?" I think down to preference but you need to see face pics before you meet so down to the person receiving them I guess

It’s not that we’re lazy but we wink to test the water, if we get a wink back we then compose a message along with pictures.
No disrespect but why compose a message to someone to have no reply...some say don’t bother winking If you can’t be bother to message, why message if you can’t be bother to respond.
At least if your wink isn’t reciprocated then there’s no loss. |

Winks are a great idea just a shame no one uses them. You can use them to keep away guys who don't read your profiles. Pretty much most have a "put 'celery' in the title so I know you've read my profile" why not just change that to wink. Check winks and wink back if you like them and that's the green light to message. Anyone who gets their initial message deleted has just wasted their time because they didn't read your profile properly.
I'm starting to use winks personally as no matter how I word messages they all pretty much get ignored and I really can't be bothered waiting my time for nothing. If they don't like winks then fine but means I've not list anything. Pushed a button and been ignored rather then wasting a few minutes writing a message to be ignored. |

I have found this all the time. I’m very shy before chatting and get tongue tied on here when messaging as I cannot be naughty until I know a person. So my messages are rubbish. I wish people would appreciate that not all people have the gift of the gab and find it hard to message. A wink may be the only way of expressing an interest in someone |

"I have found that by and a large winks are a almost pointless function. Others thoughts?" They've worked out well for me I've met some decent people just from sending/receiving a wink, when you receive them follow them up you never know where it will lead.
They have their place here |
