"We trawl through all this shit on these forums and some things make you gag and yawn whatever. But the most irritating thing is bad spelling. Why? because when you spell things incorrectly a red line appears under the mis-spelt word( like now because I added a hyphen) Then all you have to do is right-click your mouse and the correct spelling appears at the top. Click on that and job is done. You sometimes get the US spelling but that's ok. It works for everybody, even the dyslexic(please take note)" OP I think you meant a mis-spelled word. Also, as in my case, i don't use a spell check (for the reason mentioned above) so no red line appears. It works for everybody, even the dyslexic(please take note) No it doesn't, there is no red line appears on my Kindle fire and it autocorrects a lot of the time So stuff reads wrong. I have no autocorrect on my phone as it also changes stuff. I don't care if people can't spell, most of the time you can understand what people mean. Don't be so rude and non understanding to dyslexic members either. There's an easy answer, if you think the forums full of Shit, don't come on it. Thanks for informing us about the profile errors. Shall sort it asap. Btw just looked at yours and there's a few on there. Just sayin' (sic)" I thought [sic] is meant to be used only when you are quoting an original piece and you want to indicate that the error is in the original and isn't your own fault? I thought purposeful misspellings were meant to be denoted with a footnote (or a parenthetical note, depending on which style of citation you're using)?

"This is one of my favorite subjects.I even have to go back over what I've written to correct my laptop when it puts an unwanted 'U' in words like favorite. I was once told off,in very strict terms, because I don't leave a space after a comma or full stop.TBH,some people can be just a bit too fussy about these things, can't they? Favourite is the correct English spelling. And always has been? Unless you are American, yes." Somebody posted a link, earlier in the thread, to old English spellings.

"Why do people get so pissed off when someone has preferences? Why is it ok to not want to meet men with hairy backs or women over 50 but if someone mentions spelling as a preference .... ooooh everyone goes insane?!" I got pissed off with the reference of "even dyslexics". You can have whatever preferences you want I don't care, everyone is entitled to them. However it's extremely frustrating at how ignorant the general population is towards the specific learning difficulty dyslexia and just how misunderstood it is ![]()

It works for everybody, even the dyslexic(please take note)" I'm dyslexic, and use my phone for this site. Here's the thing though, us poor dyslexic can't tell if it's spelt correctly or not, and it's not like we can chuck our phones at people to check for us. We just hope technology sorts it out for us.

There is no excuse for that language.

" It works for everybody, even the dyslexic(please take note)" Did you mean to make that last line sound offensive, or did you not think it through first? I'm dyslexic, and I take great pride in making sure my spelling & grammar is correct, but I use the mobile app on my phone, often auto carrot kicks in & changes words without me realising especially when try to type a quick reply
