is the man that knee jerk reaction saying comes from, his paper on stimulus response came out about a year before Pavlov's drooling dogs.
I once worked with a girl who used to get into bother for beating people up who came close behind, came out one of her uncles, whilst playing, had grabbed her from behind when she was young and frightened her. She generalised this into everyday life, thing is the poor people who walked behind her didn't know this.
My Twitmyerism is a flashing white light for some unconscious reason, I always duck, I know I always feel shocked, where it's come from I have no idea.
Whats your knee jerk reaction, what's the stimulus? And do you know where it comes from?
Could be a word, saying, something you see, hear, it will create a feeling though.
There are some incredibly funny ones... |

I have several that I know of but I’m sure there’s more I’m not conscious of.
Being tickled
A sudden change in someone’s behaviour/demeanour/personality
Not being believed when I know something is true or something not being good enough when it was exactly what was asked for
Emotional duress
I know where they all come from but it doesn’t help when the knee jerks. Not sure what a funny one might be - mine aren’t funny, they’re distressing. Sorry state of affairs to be had when two twits clash. |

One I knew about was a man who started singing when someone touched his shoulder, when he was small and singing for the family his dad would put his hand in his shoulder, got a bit embarrassing when his boss did the samething,
It is the same thing that creates phobic response. Powerful reaction, equally it has a spectrum.
In Grassmere there is/was a ginger bread shop by the river, I smell gingerbread guess where my mind takes me... |

What can be confusing, I project this, because it’s real, on to others, which then confuses the fuck out of others who haven’t that experience.
Some people love the smell of things like tar, it has an emotional memory.
Now, it’s time to get out of my head and chill. |

Not just confusing tbh. How easy and successful is it to stop or change emotional memories that create distressing automatic reactions? |

It’s not easy, the person has to be ready, the process is so subtle.
Phobia, best I did was two minutes.
Deep lying, depends where a person is, it can be resolved through.
Just recognising is a massive step forward.
