Arrange in advance or last min?

Hi guys and girls of fab we just wondered what you all found more successful arranging meets in advance for a particular date or finding people on the day?

We need to organise childcare and have found lots of nice people to chat too and who want to meet we arrange childcare and then don't hear back... but also don't want to waste a free night and hope to arrange last min

Any thoughts or advice ? X

In my experience the longer you have a meet planned for, the greater the likelihood that it won't happen. This is both true in real life and it is also true from a mathematical/probabilistic basis - essentially there is more time for something to go wrong.

I prefer a few days, as previous poster says the longer it drags on the less likely a meet. I have made arrangments with men the day before. My FWB messages in the morning but he's not a new meet XXX

Spontaneous generally works best for me. Otherwise I get cold feet

Yea prefer some advance planning for new meets but precious meets with short notice can be ok

This is our experience too.

Like many people we have complicated work/life balances and multiple draws on our time. We find that getting everything in place too far in advance can lead to more hassle/stress/complications than we would like. So in truth we prefer last minute arrangements.

If there is someone we want to meet and they want to meet us, we will arrange it for as soon as us convenient and practical for all concerned. However, due to needing to plan babysitting, that could well be a month away, but there is not much we can do about it. It probably puts some people off, but on the whole we have no problems arranging ahead, and we don't find people cancel on us. Last minute meets? Don't really see the point unless it's someone we know, as we don't enjoy meeting random people off the Internet even if they look good.

Like many people I lead a busy life.... Work full time, have commitments outside of work plus a wife and two regular partners. In short, I have a life.

If you want to meet me outside of the poly socials that I organise you are going to have to be patient. That means arranging a time and place in advance.

It looks as though we are not alone in arranging in advance and then end up going no where ..: may have to arrange childcare and then just try that weeke to arrange thanks for the responses guys. X

In my (very limited) experience a few days seems optimum.

On the day is very hit and miss, and too long in advance leaves more likelihood of something genuine from real life cropping up.

I don't like planning in advance as I tend to get put off by the time it gets around to meeting or have got bored... spontaneous works best.. which can make it a little hard as Mr likes the thrill of the chase. But we work around it

We have the childcare issue too so need to be somewhat organised but as others have said too far in advance things always seem to go wrong. We usually plan a few days to a week ahead.

I don’t mind either. If it’s a new lady or couple I would rather sort the first meet as soon as poss as it gets the first meet out of the way so you both know that there won’t be a no show on the next meets as you now know each other.

Spontaneous is good but a couple who have to make arrangements are awesome ....as they are less likely to hurry or have to rush as all's covered

Debs and I met face to face on a lastminute meet Christmas night 2001.

We were talking in a chatroom, I hadn't had a drink because I'd had my little boy all day and had to take him home, she said come over.

I drove 35 miles and her first words to me were "You are wearing too many clothes" (she was wearing a dressing gown)

We've now been a couple for over 15 years and married for 9.

Do I like last minute meets?

Mixture of both for us had a few last minute.coms but more often planned in advance due to the kids but we find the pre arrange tend to be more rewarding as you build up an understanding with the couple you plan to meet but then we like to talk a lot first lol

I always plan way in advance to fit around commitments and life. It has always worked well for me... but then I only ever arrange meets with those I've been chatting to extensively so I know they are as keen to meet as I am. Obviously there are times when one or other had to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances but that hasn't been a issue and meets have always been rearranged.

I plan my meets 3-6 weeks in advance

Always works for me as there guys I know well
