Hello to you wonderful fabbers.

Would like some advice on best way of getting a good quality recording of us playing. Obviously like most of you I’m sure, we have used camcorders and the like and even used multiple iPhones lol.

We only want the footage for our own use but would be nice to have some high quality film rather than hubbys attempts which frankly, would have been smoother being shot by Michael j Fox.

Now do we ........

1)Get someone in to film ?

2)Stop bitching and use our phone like most people ?

3) get some new ideas from you lot

Thanking you all in advance and happy shagging

A good starting point is a couple of cameras on tripods. If you can film in HD then you can pan and zoom a bit in your editing software and render the footage to DVD quality.

We use a Gopro on a tripod. The footage is good quality and reasonably easy to edit with Gopro studio.

As others have said a tripod helps, getting someone to film is even better, however finding someone isn't as easy. There are a few on fab from bicester but few and far between. Also you have the thought that whoever does it might not be a great videographer so may still come out shakey.

We've used a Gorilla-type clamp from Amazon to hold our phones, and recorded in HD. It also came with a BlueTooth clicker, so we can start/stop/ and take pics remotely. The pic on the sofa of us is a still, taken from about 3m away - good enough on the whole for us. Having good lighting helps tremendously with the pic quality. The downside is that the sound is a little patchy.

The next step up would be a go pro, then using an DSLR. The DSLR allows you to plug in mikes which you can buy relatively cheaply and so place them a bit closer to the action.

We'd wondered whether we could get a small drone and whether that could be set to hover and film us ...

The trick is all down to editing. Keep yourselves naked (for continuity reasons) and ensure you have good lighting too. Set the camera up on a tripod, agree on positions and close ups and film away. It doesn’t matter in which order you film the scenes as you’ll piece them all together with editing afterwards. The result will hopefully look like a well choreographed porn film, as opposed to a shakey one take gonzo production. It all depends on your style really. Most of all, have fun

You can record high quality HD footage quite cheaply these days without having to fork out on really expensive cameras. The thing that undoubtedly makes the difference in over quality is the light. The amateur footage you see on youporn is always badly lit, which I think makes it more authentic personally, but getting some good lighting will make a huge difference. You can use B&Q floodlights or even carefully placed household lamps to light the scene properly. You don't want to point lights directly at the subject, instead direct it the opposite way and bound the light off either the wall, or get something large and white to act as a reflector. Polystyrene packing sheets are great for this.

There's lots more to it. But it you get the scene well lit, it will make a huge impact.

Also, filming from multiple angles will allow for extending scenes. The same ten seconds of sex from a different angle will look like a continuation rather than repetition.

Hi,

I know you probably hear this all the time ( but in my case its true ), but I am a established porn star and porn videographer. My work in front of and behind the camera can be seen on lots of pay-2-view sites, as well as one or two piece of the free-2-view sites.

If you'd like to Private Message me I can help you with everything you need to know.

There are a number of factors to take into account.

The biggest with amateur footage is often lighting. The typical bedroom, hotel room or living room is in no way ideal for making videos in. That's why all pros and serious amateur videographers have lights. Those lights are often balanced to daylight so that natural light can be mixed with the artificial light. These days many of us understand "colour temperature" due to the "white balance" on digital cameras. The thing is, most people prefer not to have sex under bright (even harsh) light and find soft, medium light to be more sexy...but your camcorder won't like it unless it is specifically designed for low light (unlikely).

By no means less important are the skills of the videographer. A tripod is often essential unless going for the "handheld or gonzo" look. The best scene I ever filmed was a MMF with a mate and his fiancee where I had one camera on a tripod and whichever guy was not playing with the lady had a handheld.

No phones. They might record 1080 but they will never be as good as a mid range camcorder with a decent optical zoom lens. The phones will also tend to record more compressed video at a lower bit rate. My 1080i camcorder will record up to 10 gig per hour of footage. That means no pixelated people when they move, no MPEG artefacts, and high quality sound.

The golden rules of handheld video making are to be as steady as you can. Pan and move around slooooowly. Use the zoom sparingly, do NOT under any circumstances keep zooming in and out. A wider handheld shot can look better than a shaky one at 10x zoom. NEVER use a digital zoom as it will just reduce the picture quality (a few models excepted).

Finally invest in editing software. Nothing is worse than "in camera" edits unless you have a script and really know what you're doing. Editing software allows you to cut out anything you don't like, crop the picture a little, alter the colour balance, change sound levels etc.

Now...all this isn't easy. It can take 10 hours to edit together one hour of decent video footage but the difference when you watch it back is like night and day. All this involves skills. That's why pro film-makers and videographers make money.

And one last thing....as someone old enough to have used old school celluloid film for motion pictures....be happy you're not shooting expensive film in a heavy, noisy camera which needs to go to a lab to be developed....and is then edited with razor blades and adhesive.

I still do it occasionally but it's a whole different skill level and levels more expensive than getting hold of a half decent camcorder or three and a non-linear editing software suite.

that all being said about lighting etc etc...in a swinging environment..I rarely have it 'set' up...I'm happy to hand my camera over to another...

I personally love the look of professional studio shots..but it is very rare that they are play shots...and it usually comes across in the fabbed pics..the most expensive camera in the world or the best lighting whatever... dont really grab people.

I love the editing part..I know I can make a shit pic look good...it might not be professional looking but I never had to set up shots etc

Find a willing friend to film for you, im sure there will be lots of volunteers on here, and for much better lighting do it outdoors on a moderately sunny day.
