You can catch sti's through oral but the risks are less than through penetrative sex.
It really comes down to personal choice and whether or not you are willing to take the risk.
If one party wants to use condoms for oral and the other doesn't then it is up to you to either choose not to meet because you are incompatible or agree to no oral because you think differently.

Had it explained to me recently when I went for a routine sexual health screening. At the clinic they advise a mouth swab on anybody who has given oral sex to a homosexual or bisexual man. The mouth swab is to test for chlamydia and gonorrhoea which can exist at the back of the throat and can only be transmitted by a penis going right to the back of the throat. It cannot be passed on from pussy to mouth as obviously a pussy cannot get to the back of the throat. Both diseases extremely treatable if found but unfortunately very contagious and often no symptoms. The sexual health nurse told me that the risk of oral chlamydia or gonorrhoea is practically negligible with people who have only slept with heterosexual men so they do not advocate mouth swabs in that situation. As it's the back of the throat that is the danger area, I would imagine a gentle blowjob should be fine.

I have in the past given oral to men I don't know well without a condom. My understanding was always that as long as there were no mouth sores or bleeding gums, and the guy didn't actually cum, the risk of catching something is pretty low. Certainly things like HIV or anything serious.
However, due to recent issues regarding my health, I have decided that I am no longer willing to take the risk any more. |

Why take the risk if you dont know the person....condoms come in lots of flavors. At the sex clinic they repeatedly tell people sti's are more likely to be spread via oral than penetration as people dont realise the risks. It lives in the mouth. |

I'm not being funny but its very small risk . I've been sucking cock bare for well over 2 decades... until the last 3 years mostly multiple guys in a session... often double figures... all bare for oral. I get checked every 4 to 6 weeks depending on what I've been doing and not even had a cold... and I always deep throat.
I'm aware of the small risk.. but as oral without a condom is about the most vile thing ever and pointless as it takes away everything I enjoy.. I will continue to take the risk.

HaHa...you should have been at the sex clinic when a load of FAB people came in who had been at a party. They were all wanting to be tested as one of them found out they had an STD. None had used condoms for oral and they were all very worried. |

I dont worry. I have been doing this a long time. I know people that have had sti' s. I get checked... the clinic know what I get up to. And actually most clinics dont even offer the oral swabs unless you ask.. due to the much lower risk of infection and it not being cost effective. Even knowing what I do. I have to request them.
And not sure why its haha moment for people being responsible for their own sexual health. Which is all any of us can do.
If someone wants a condom on or dental dam for oral that's up to them. Just as its our choice to say sorry but not happening with us.
I dont think people that choose to are odd same as its up to those that don't use them at all. Our preference is oral without and penetration with... if we dont match someones wants then we dont meet. |
