lying about your age!!

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

Why do some people on here clearly lie about their age!! I can understand maybe shaving a couple of years off. But some knock 20 years off and don't think people will notice. Unless they have had a severely hard life and been a chain smoking crack addict alcoholic. I can't see why some 30 year olds can look 50? Has anyone else noticed this a little bit??

just playing devils advocate here but some people look way younger than their years. I don't look my age by at least 10yrs and fed up of having to say "no, really I am" and then you get the whole "no way, are you sure". of course I'm sure I am me you know. I take it as a compliment though, well sometimes when it stops peeing me off. So I can see why some people would knock off a few years.

They do it to get round age filters I guess and/or they're vain and can't accept they're getting older (just like everyone else!). It really annoys me when someone messages and it seems highly likely they've lied about that. Even if I found them attractive the silliness of it would still put me off.

I'm not the age I claim to be. I'm just not keen to reveal everything about myself to random strangers.

No one has pulled me up on it and no one has run away screaming when we meet. I've got true pics so people can make their own mind up.

We recently had a guy who's profile stated 27, but in the text bit he admitted he was actually 37 and had made a mistake. Funnily enough he ignored us when we told him how to change the account age, guessing he wanted to get around age filters

It happens the other way round too. We met a guy who claimed to be 30 if he was a day over 20 I'd be surprised.

Altering your age to be discreet is one thing to get round filters is another. I don't think anyone should use their actual date of birth.

The numbers of guys supposedly in their thirties that message me starting with ‘I’m actually only 26 but...’ is starting to seriously annoy me. I understand that you want to get into an age bracket that hits most people’s restrictions but some of us have preferences when it comes to age. Only happened once the other way around.

I put myself down as being a few months older,it was quite a shock seeing myself turn 50 when I wasn't quite there yet. Especially when people started saying how good I looked for 50,I wasn't quite sure what to say apart from thanks.

Strangely I'm actually 37 and not far from 38! I honestly don't know what a 37 year old is suppose to look like! So I don't know if I look younger or older!! But I'm not gonna say oh I'm 27 just because I want some hot 25 year old!! Then look a complete dick when you start talking about how great the 80's and 90's were!!

I recently met a lady who said she was 46. We met for lunch in a gastro pub in a lovely quaint village. I arrived at the appointed time and waited until the lady arrived. We embraced and headed for the thatched roof hostlery. It was clear from the lady's appearance she was dyslexic.

Still it was a very enjoyable lunch with a pleasant lady who over sticky toffee pudding alluded to the fact she may have been less than forthcoming about her age!

I've noticed it tends to be 20 something men pretending to be 30+

50-54 aged men dropping down to 46-48.

Mid 40's women using late 30's.

If you're plus / minus to be in a different decade then filters and/ or wanting to appear on popular age ranges come to mind.

I think Roxi has hit the nail on the head. Seems to me that 51 precludes men in particular from the majority of those Fab funsters seeking fab fun. I didn't that there were so may 49 year olds in the world!

I've always been told that I look & act a lot younger than my age so used to have the same outlook as you.

The older I've got though I've realised it's unrealistic to think I can knock 10 years off my age & anyone who thinks they can is kidding themselves no matter how good the genes are.

Mid 40's upwards & I reckon your looking at a 3/5 year reduction max.

Having no interest in blokes, I've never thought about or noticed men lying about their ages. That being said, 20yr olds adding to their age to stand a chance of shagging older women, is totally the sort of thing my 20yr old self would have done, if I'd known about swinging sites then

Anyway, I digress! Seeing as I've never met any woman who wasn't pleased as punch if anyone thought she was younger than she actually was, I'd put good money to bet that most women who lie about their ages don't do it to get round filters. There's also that saying about never asking a woman her age.

There are 3 women on this site who were older than me when we first met over the years. Today, I'm now older than they are

The ones that make me laugh are profiles who constantly rejoin, have been doing for ages, but are younger than they originally were.

It irritated me on my old single profile, when someone altered their age to get round a filter

If i wasnt interested in them when they were too young/old,I certainly wouldn't be after they tried to trick me.

We're not the age we claim to be (only a few yrs mind not 10/20)and as I check it seems I have a toy boy for a husband lol. But we don't look the age we are (And I'm getting really fed up of I.d. checks round Asdas cause it's clear tat i am over the age limit). However when we had our actual age on we got pushy similar aged pple who looked like they've been hit by a bus saying "well y don't u wanna meet ure the same age as Me?". So to avoid the bitchy " yeah but I moisturised" comment back it's easier to just say no I'm younger
