Ok, so last night it was just a normal night at work , when suddenly someone I know sees me and comes straight up to me and tells me they have seen my profile on here .
This was someone who I just happen to know , not someone I'd call a friend.
I've always been careful not to put face pics on and have never told anyone in my personal life that I'm on this site.
The only problem I'm having now is I have no idea if the person in question has a profile on here or using someone else's or just happened to stumble on my profile so I can't block them or stop them from seeing my profile .
Just wondered if anyone else on here has been recognised in public or been in the same situation and how you handled it .... |

You have two choices... Either deny all knowledge or say so what? They're on here too... Unless your ashamed of being on here or you shouldn't be in here then I wouldn't worry. |

I would just laugh it off and play it down with ‘I wished’.
Just make sure that you have ‘who’s near’ turned off.
They’re more than likely fishing for your reaction, so get your best poker face on.
Even if it’s too late, so what. They’re only jealous. There are two types of people on the planet, swingers and those who wished they were.
Good luck! |

I've been recognised.
Someone said something in such a way I knew they'd seen my profile, but didn't out rightly ask me.
I carried on the conversation, a few innuendos on their part.
I wished them "a fabulous day and hoped they had some fun lined up for the weekend, as I most certainly did"
It's never been mentioned since, they are very respectful when they see me now.
I have no idea what their profile is (I did do a local search)
But they are both highly respected people in this area, so as I see it, I'm safe.. They have way more to lose than me! |

I’ve been recognised, once by an old schoolfriend who waiting until he was pissed to tell me him and his mrs had been looking at my profile.
And again, someone I went to school with knew it was me, although this guy wasn’t willing at first to tell me who he was.
Like you I was careful to not have face pics up ect |

Only last Saturday! First time ever this has happened in public. It was a guy who was on the till in one of our local shops. Never thought anything of it then later that evening he sent us a really nice messsge on here titled, I served you both
We exchanged a few messages, nothing untoward as he made himself known to us in return.
If we didn't know it wouldn't be nice though OP, that's a bit creepy. Some people are real social fucktards |

That approach speaks volumes about what a wee snidey creep he/she was. Fact is that many people take a perverse delight in what they see as naming and shaming someone. My answer probably would have been along the lines of "sadly I wish my life was that adventurous!" |

Its just really annoyed me that the person in question took a bit of delight in coming straight up to me and informing me that they had seen my profile..
I keep this private and have never told or discussed this site with any friends, family or anyone outside of fabswingers.
I'm not ashamed of being on here but I would prefer to keep it private as then I won't have people I know personally judging me.
But the fact that this person now knows and has seen my profile, I feel as though it's not private anymore as I don't know who their going to be telling.
Im now going to feel a bìt self conscious about what I'm putting on my profile etc.. |

Not good OP and I hope said person is able to maintain discretion.
Out of interest how did you react and what did you say to them at the time? Might be worth having a discreet word with them next time you see them and just politely asking them to keep it to themselves, and assure them that you'd do the same if the situation was reversed.
Has only happened to me once so far, and in a kind of reverse situation - someone I know walked into a club I was at - was a little awkward on the night, but mercifully next time we saw each other we were able to talk about it like adults and provide assurances around discretion etc. |

To be honest I was a little taken a back as you never expect someone to come up to you and say they've saw your profile on a swingers site ... I gave a bit of a nervous awkward laugh and just replied I might be , I'm on that many sites social media , I don't know what I'm on " ...
I was that shocked it never even occurred to me to try and deny it ..
I just can't believe they came right out and told me.
I'd never even consider telling someone id seen them on here.

Yep been recognised a few times. Once had someone shout our fab name out loud whilst we were shopping in Morrison's just ignored whoever it was.
Once had a creepy guy turn up at my work and later message saying he knew where I worked etc.
It's weird and sad. We are always very careful about showing face pics and on both occasions it wasn't someone we had exchanged face pics with so just makes me wonder how they "recognise" you.
Grade A stalkers and weirdos that I like to avoid.

I have actually been wondering wether it is someone I've chatted to on here or sent a face pic to..
But if that is the case , why not just continue to chat on here and maybe tell me through here that they recognise me .
Why seek me out in person.
It just feels a bit creepy . |

Well hopefully that has sown a seed of doubt as to whether this profile is you - although if it's someone that reads the forums this thread may have confirmed it for them - either way I'd see if there's any awkwardness etc next time you seem them and just have a quiet and discreet word if it's appropriate. |

That's what's annoying me, I don't know how they recognised me , I have removed a few pics but there was no face pics , and the person in question isn't someone I see regularly just every now and again .
I'm wishing I had denied it but I was just that shocked at the time , It never even crossed my mind.
Really wished I knew their profile though, I could just block then . |

So if they never saw a face pic I'm perplexed as to how they could possibly recognise you.

Without seeing your pics OP it's difficult to say but were there any taken at work or somewhere recognisable locally that could have given the person a clue and then they're just going on a hunch based on your body shape and locality?
Is the only thing I can think of if no face pic was visible etc. |

Yes, someone I work with is on here. We sit only a few desks apart.
Was too late to re-call my photos by the time we realised we worked together
Just have to roll with it now and pretend I’m not bothered (and hope they don’t say anything) |

Just do rude. Why on earth do people think they are justified in that approach.
I've recognised lots of people from Fab. I would never dream of asking them about it.
And why should anyone feel they have to explain their lifestyle to some nosey bastard who can't keep their trap closed. |

No all the pics I've posted on here were taken at home in private and the person who recognised me has never been to my house.
The only thing I can think of is it must be someone I've spoken to on here and maybe sent a face pic to and they recognised me ..
Can't think of any other explanation . |

So heres a scary thing in the same vein. Many of you will be on linkedin. I am and recently I have had a spate of suggested connections with people unrelated professionally but who I have been on contact with and met via sites like this.
Obviosly our presence on the internet is nowhere near as private as we would wish. |

"should have countered with i dont think so,
can you show me the profile there?"
that way you throw them off and arent showing disgust or anything. and bonus, you might get a glympse of their name.
i've had people message when they see im near while in work but they're unlikely to spot me. far too crowded where i work and not like they can identify either of us without seeing private pics. |

We have been spotted many times whilst out and about, and often log on to find a message from someone saying 'I've just seen you in Tesco/pub/gym' etc. Whilst we don't mind this approach, we would prefer not to be sent these sort of messages as they sometimes come across a little creepy.
We have been approached several times in public, including when we were with our kids and other family. This will never go down well, as it shows that discretion is a word that many people completely fail to understand. |

i think i'd likely react in a fairly hostile way if some clown approached with no discretion while i was with kids or family. a discreet wink or "what a fab looking couple" is fine if they felt they had to say something, but more than that would not end well. |

Yeah it definitely does. You get folk like that unfortunately. We've had far too many of them - which is why we've left and came back so many times.
The guy who turned up to my work was a creeper. We had never spoken to him or sent him any pictures and yet he said he recognised me and even went on to say where I worked and he was correct. It was all very creepy and odd.
I once had someone follow me from work after that and convinced it was him.
If someone random recognised me off fab I'd rather they didn't mention it at all. Cause it's weird. If we were chatting to them and had exchanged face photos etc or had met I wouldnt mind so much. But these weirdos who have only seen the pictures on your profile and yet somehow recognise you - no thank you. Stay away.

I have been noticed on many occasions as it seems my tiny town is full if swingers. Bar one who came up to me in a shop, those that have noticed me have just nodded in passing. I have never had anyone cone right up to me. Some people on Fab forget the whole discretion thing and it drives me insane. |

Hit delete by accident
We had a message from a guy who works in the same building as me a few weeks ago, he wanted a reward for recognising me - having just photo verified his account to message me whilst at work. I had no idea who he was he eventually sent a pic - his reward a block and I avoided walking past the creep again where possible. I then blocked his second account he created to get round the block.
On previous profiles weve had messages telling me where and when ive been places. Facebook friends requests from people ive not even spoken too. Instagram followings.
A stalker who I assume followed me home having reeled off my neighbours names...and telling me how they were going to do this that and the other in the shop.
Sadly for them I prefer a little more class in my ass and wouldn't meet anyone who cannot distinguish between my time on here and my time off of here when I'm being a mum, wife, employee, etc. |
