Bisexuality. A survey
Jump to: Newest in thread
So in the interests of research I have just looked at the first fifty couples profiles to come up on a search. On bisexuality we get the following breakdown.
Both bi 13
Female only bi 28
Male only bi 0
Both straight 9
So if those figures are representative we have 82% of women in couples being bi and only 26% of men.
Anyone got any theories for this discrepancy? |

I think the 82% is equal in both men and women, it’s just more acceptable for the women to admit it and not the guys.
I would say any guy who’s prepared to be naked in close proximity in a sexual encounter, with another guy, is getting some form of arousal from that moment.
I know there’ll be a lot of “straight “ guys protesting this, but I reckon most guys, given a no comeback or none judgemental opportunity with another guy, who experiment! |

That sounds feasible, but begs the question as to why guys are not more open. |

First point quite likely to be true in a number of cases. Purely based on what I have read on here there does seem to be a stigma. Rest of what you said. Nonsence. I strip off at the gym and see other guys doing so. I don't get aroused. I only speak for myself and you only speak for you. Neither of us can come to the conclusion that we represent most guys. I have been naked in a sexual encounter with one of my best mates. We both just got on and did our duty for queen and country. We high fived at one point mind you haha |

Ok I sampled 25 couples and got this.
Straight / straight - 10
Fem S / Male B -
Male S / Fem B - 12
Both Bi - 3
But I would question the bi side of these women. Bit like with blokes the spectrum is wide and i suspect a lot aren't very bi. |

So you've got 60% v 12%. A similar level of discrepancy.
As for questioning the bi side of women, I think because women are expected to be bi if they are up for a bit of same sex touching they will say they are bi, whilst men who are the same won't. |

More women claim to be bi then actually are, because it’s seen as desirable for them to be that way.
And less men say they’re bi then actually are, because they see it as a negative to be perceived like that.
I’d say 70% of messages I receive from males on here are from men who have “straight” on their profile.
And all of the women have “curious” or “bi” |

i have read alot of similar posts on here over the years ..funnily enough every one has been a bi or curious guy that said it ...its almost as if trying to justify their bi tendancies..at the end of the day some are bi some curious and some straight |

Well that's a bit tedious but here's my results;
Bi f , bi m 10
Straight f straight m 3
Straight f bi m 1
Bi f straight m 36
Seems the vast majority of females claim to be bi! |

Hes given reasons for why.
If you mean why does this occur.
One word - Judgement. |

That is indeed what I meant and your response begs another question. Why are bi males judged harshly when bi females are not? |

I think some guys are scared of being that open about even bi curious as some women get suprised when they find out their other half is bi or curious and some men are afraid their other half won't accept it and lead to it ending the relationship and some are scared as they think they would accept it but scared if that scenario happen and it did end because of it |

"It's more acceptable for women to be bi.
More men want to watch their partners with a woman than women want to watch theirs with a man.

Yeah I think this is true in vanilla world and it spills over into the scene. |

Yes judgement probably does come into it for some - but can honestly say in the time I've been on the site I've only ever experienced any kind of judgement about my sexuality twice - and in both cases it was from females who had very bigoted and homophobic views on the matter.
The rest of the time I've had nothing but respect for who I am and my sexual prefences - so to anyone reading this scared of being judged, fear not ![](/icons/thumb_up.png) |

"I did the same search, of 50 couples only 7 featured a bi male. Most (didn't count) were bi or curious female.
So, that's only 14% bi men up here.
Maybe a southern thing?

Haha exactly
It was meant as a tongue in cheek stereotype comment, as you know.
.
I think the OP estimate of male bisexuality is on the high side.
Are women naturally more accepting of each other and their empathy runs through into sexuality too? I dont know, just a thought..
Either way, people should accept their sexuality and not be ashamed of it. |

Were the couples verified? With the high % of bi women could it be skewed due to the women wanting to explore that side and men are more than happy for there partners to do it. Also I feel bi women label has a bigger range of meaning which makes the case for being bi female easier. Another good point which seems to have been lost due to the comments after it looks better for the profile in many peoples eyes to have a bi female and bi male looks like a negative. This may be a factor of “fab straight” thing going around. |

It's a London thing I thing. We are far less prejudiced than you northern types, hence men are more likely to be open about their sexuality
Seriously, as someone who was born and brought up in Sheffield and has now lived nearly thirty years in the south, you can see the cultural differences. I would bet a lot of money that the location of bi men on here correlates strongly with strong remain areas in the referendum.
And, before anyone says they are bi and voted leave, I am talking correlation not a hard and fast rule |

It's funny you say that. When the Leave campaign bus had to take off the £350m thing, they replaced it with 'Remainers Like Cock' instead .
.
Yes, what's not known in those quick stats is, how many are actually bi, and how many just are prepared to be open about it. But I would be surprised if it was 30% like the OP counted (based on no facts, just gut feeling) |

Indeed. In my view the basic issue is that the hetero normative view is that primarily hetero women willing to get it on with other women are hot, whilst men willing to get it on with other men are unmanly and a bit sordid.
Hence if you are a man interested in same sex action but are hetero normative in your values, you are likely to be on the down low. |

It's because many men have the fantasy of seeing their wife with another woman and the women go along with it. I would say less women have a similar fantasy about their husbands. Obviously my hubby and I buck the trend with a bi male and straight fem which is why we struggled to meet couples. |
