Seriously...if you're going to put your phone number on your profile, at least take the time to ensure that it is correct.
I've just spent half an hour explaining to a COMPLETE STRANGER why she's being suddenly bombarded by calls from complete strangers asking to speak to 'Linda'...

Had this been a PRIVATE communication, I might well have assumed that the user had deliberately given me a fake number in order to give me the elbow...
However, I was a phoning a number which had been posted as part of a status update inviting other users to call.
That being the case, unless the profile owner just wanted to cause undue distress to a complete stranger for shits and giggles, I'm willing to entertain the possibility that it was a genuine mistake. |

You raise a good point though...
Giving out a fake number might give you a big laugh, but in doing so, you're causing grief and aggro to a complete stranger...
As I said, the person who I just spoke to is now being inundated with calls from strange men, and they're not exactly happy about it... |

The FAQ states that: "Common sense advice would be NOT to put any information on your profile (here, or on any such site) that could identify you or that you don't want to become public! So for your own benefit, don't post phone numbers, real names or email / instant message addresses on your profile that people might see or "Google"."
However, there is no cast-iron 'rule' against putting contact details on your profile. |

"Oh no, you are the 65th bloke to ring me today, please spend 30 mimutes on the phone explaining how this happened?"
*All calls charged at £2 per minute plus your network access charge. Please ask your wife's permission before ringing random numbers off the internet.
I would also be wary that not only is it a deliberately wrong number, the original profile may also be fake. Bitter ex perhaps? |

It wasn't a scam number...it was a standard mobile number, not a non-geographic.
Could well have been a set-up by a vindictive ex... |

Text first just once ...if yu font get a reply then stop
Add to whatsap sometimes a profile pic reveals ..
Not a great idea all round in case the phone belongs to a teenager..
More than 2 unwanted texts is classed as harrassment. . |
