While i was away on hols noticed a lot off women wearing ankle chains,"in our hotel,so i asked was it a present or was it there for a reason,the first just smiled,the second 1 when asked, siad yes its cute dont you think,,so now im even more confused,would love some help with this,

to some it has a meaning depending on which ankle it is worn on, and what charms if any are on the bracelet, to others it is a piece of jewellry.

Love ankle chains but only tend to wear in the summer or on holiday. Always on my right thats only because its more comftable on that side.

My mom said that ladies who wore ankle chains were "working girls", and it was just a way of them advertizing themselves without blazen in your face soliciting.
She said it was usually the classier lady that wore them.
I don't know if this is true, but she nearly had a fit when I told her I was going to buy Kate one as a surprise present  |

Wow, amazed. So I just need to walk around looking at ladies ankles, as a precursor before I approach. when I Google'd it I ended up on some site that had a guide to what all the 'charms' on the bracelet mean.
This world gets more and more intriguing, you think I could advertise a car I'm selling using this metod, although can't see many people looking at my ankles.

I make beautiful silver plated ankle bracelets with the advantage being I make them to fit the individual request instead of the bog standard sizes in shops - same with charm bracelets I make.
Nothing worse than an item of jewellery dropping off the wrist/ankle or straining at the links. |

I dont think there is any universal reason for wearing anklets. Some people USED to say it meant prostitution, some people have said it symbolises sexual feedom (which I presume is what the OP is getting at) but mainly women just think they look nice and are completely unaware of any other reason.

I have to agree. I received my first one - a little gold one with my name on it from an aunt in Canada, when I was about 11. All the young girls wore them in the schools there and my friends certainly didn't have them and mine was seen as a bit of a novelty. I didn't know what it was when I first received it as it was way too big for my arm.
I just see them as a fashion item and always have done. I love pampas grass too and never associate that with swinging. |

As I understand it, and this is from fantasies & research over the past couple of years. A lady will wear an ankle chain so men will know she is a cuckoldress or a hotwife.
Can't remember which ankle she wore it on though, and yes she would wear it with stockings aswell. If memory serves me correct, the charms may be letters h & w.
We are currently in Portugal and most women here wear them, but not for any of the reasons mentioned above though, there would be a lot of hotwives around if this was the case. Lol. |

can mean the woman is a "hot wife", she wears it on the right, her husband knows, on the left, he don't, or something like that. Some wear symbols with it like an ace of spades, meaning they like black guys that sort of thing. Most women wear them 'cos they look nice though so I wouldn't go up to the 1st woman you see and ask her if she fancies a shag, more then likely get a smack in the mouth |

i know loads of girls that wear them just for fashion but i do wear mine for a reason.
the only tip i can give you guys is to approach and say nice anklet chain do you wear it for any reason.

When i was young i was seriously verbally abused by some guys. It was extremely sexual, they then informed me that if i was going to advertize myself as a hooker than i should expect to be treated like one, never wore one or any other significant jewelery from that day to this |

Please take no notice of what it means, it's just a fashion thingy.
I see young and old wearing them, in warm weather. To think they wear them as a sign is, well bollocks and could get you into trouble...Do they only advertise in the summer, can you see them in the winter or cold days????
Same with ear rings, and rings on toes too many wear them for fashion to be meaningful.
Of course that just my opinion... |

I have 3 ankle bracelets I do love them... My mum had one... And was well aware of the saying that nice women don't wear them..
I however think they look elegant... And actually some where them as a similar item to me collar.. my friends collar is actually a ankle bracelet and she wears it as a symbol of her ownership...

i do actually wear mine as a sign im looking, mine is on my right ankle 24/7 and never hidden away unless im wearing trousers.
to presume that its all bollocks as you put it is out of order, and just goes to show how ill informed you are!!  |

I certainly won't be approaching someone who has one, on the off chance that they are swingers,
