TBH it's a relief that they aren't ageist. Nothing more frustrating than a sexy woman's profile who's blocked my age from contacting her, does that happen to 44 year old women very often, I doubt it? Personally I wouldn't want a play with anyone younger than my eldest adult kids, or older than my mum, and I self police that. |

Yeah being serious I think mine is set to something like 25-55 (runs off to check).
Not setting age filters does smack of laziness and/or opportunism but equally I guess some simply haven't delved down into their profile options and changed the defaults. |

Yeah being serious I think mine is set to something like 25-55 (runs off to check).
Not setting age filters does smack of laziness and/or opportunism but equally I guess some simply haven't delved down into their profile options and changed the defaults."
We have the age range on the profile but haven't turned the filter on as we are flexible for the right person. |

Agree with the point about random messages. With many complaining that they get too many messages to respond to all, it would be ironic if any of those people had not applied age filters.
Personally, I take it as an indication that that person may not be serious about meeting, as I find it odd that you wouldn't know what age group you were looking for more specifically than 18-99.  |

I think the age thing is a difficult one, I would be flattered if someone significantly younger was to message but I would also wonder what we may have or have not in common! As for older I find some older attractive women incredibly alluring. I think maybe 10 years either side of your he is about right?! But each to their own I guess |

My kids are way over 18 and my mum is far younger than 99 and it's as good as impossible for me, as a single guy profile, to get any random messages at all. I accept I could trim the age range but it would still be very wide! |

For me I have the age range 18-99 because I'm not intimidated by age. I've received some really beautiful messages of all ages. I don't want to stereotype men as I'll never know if I'm cutting myself short with interacting with an amazing individual. |

The tricky thing about an age filter is there will always be someone a year outside it who could be perfect for you.
Besides that, I don't feel any different now to how I did 2 years ago and I know plenty of people who have been grumpy sods in late middle age since they were 20. |

It's a tricky one ... my personal preferences to meet are age restricted but I am a party host too so never really know how to set mine 
But sometimes I view the old 18-99 settings as pure laziness that others just don't adjust them or maybe that my naivetivity and that the really aren't fussed whether it's a 6th former or one foot in the grace haha  |

It would make far more sense if those who put age ranges on here to set limits had them automatically updated each year as they became older... otherwise the relationship between looking for age and profile owners age becomes disjointed.
To suggest not changing default age limits is lazy is just past my thinking... and yet another whine thread... age us next to name so you don't even need to look at a profile just the message sender..

Age is but a number...
If it's a conscious choice to leave it as is, great! It's not lazy. I am not ageist in any way. If I can connect with somebody much older or much younger why not?
Thing is, you can't judge by the number. its down to the individual. Imagine setting it at 50 and having to pass on Elizabeth Hurley because she's 52! |

I,'ve got 35 - 63 on mine, my preference is about 45-50. I haven't set it so that other ages can't message me, just in case a older man messages that I like. I get a lot of messages from much younger men that I,m not interested in meeting though. XXX |

As far as I'm concerned I couldn't give a flying fig how old a person is as long as they can show me some respect .I think the ones that narrow it down are extremely picky . good luck to them but it means its that much harder finding someone nice on here . I wish people would just get on having fun on here . I'm 62_ so bloody what . I look late 40s and act even younger .get a life some of you you've only got one grab it with both hands or whatever you want . |

Eloquently put. There are a great many attractive women in there 50's on the site and clubs. I know 1 or 2 who don't look 40 never mind 50. I salute those stunners! |

I agree with your sentiments entirely and its always about personal choice. However theres not much difference between 49 and 50 or 60 and 61 ... its a filter that means you could miss out on MR/MS perfect so be careful how you use it...

I look it it this way if I was in a club and was chatting getting in well with someone and they said I'm 50, would I say sorry great chatting but my range is 24-49 (example). And how many women or men do you chat to and say only as old has you feel.
I think many people miss out on some interesting people with age filters.

Make it an option to not have it shown. I have a range set on mine simply to show that I have gone to change the option. My filter is not age restricted at all. The age of the person is the last thing i care about. Well its not even last, I just dont care. |
