As I switched from reading the vanilla pages of my newspaper, I picked up my phone for some 'fab' reading.
I was just getting over the prices some of these footy players are being transferred for when I got an invite to a party. I will not name the party or organisers, as that is not fair Nor is it my intention to look like a skin flint in comparison to those gents already attending! However, there seems to be so much in common with the new transfer dealings for ordinary players costing a pretty penny and the charging of single guys to attend a party/clubnight or evening.
I noted that this particular party were hoping to charge £50 for a single gent. This is one evening, not a weekend not a festival just a club night. No guarantees, no promises just pay the dough and your welcomed to enter!
Why do promoters charge this money? It can only be that either they're not expecting many on the door so therefore want the single men to carry the burden or that just want to fleece somebody. Men - do you pay this money with a smile on your face? im pretty sure that whatever your reasoning to attend the party the same can probably be found for an evening where the entry fee, travel, drinks money and general outlay wouldn't be three figures. I hear the excuse of needing to control numbers of single men. If that is the case don't invite single men, or handpick them yourselves. What if some people enjoy the attention of single men?
There's my gripe of the day! As you probably guessed I declined the invite and will take my hard earned and spend it somewhere I will get value for money. For those attending these parties.... good luck! Someone needs to change the rules or change the game! |
