If you don't have face pics that are public on your profile and the profile you send a wink to specifically asks for a face pic, then no, winks are pretty pointless (well to me they are ) |

"Do ladies and couples ever check winks.
Sometimes I write long messages only to have them left un read.
Does a wink even get acknowledged? "
We use Winks - you're right, it saves typing a message for a no read or response. If they wink back then or message then great, if not then you just move on anyway! |

We check winks regularly, but always send a nice message if we like someone, rather than just send a wink. Everyone's different of course, but we tend to see it as a bit lazy if someone just winks, but doesn't message. Can appear they're not all that interested if it's too much trouble to put a decent message together - if it's an interesting one rather than a one-liner it tends to get our attention and gives an indication of the type of people they are too. We all have our own thought processes on this of course and everyone will see this differently. To be fair we don't send out mass messages either, so doesn't take a lot of time. No approach is right or wrong really. |

I wink
It's a quick easy way of saying I like your pictures and do you like what you see so far of me?
It's like the first initial eye contact that lasts long enough to know someone is interested |

I prefer to send a wink first, then message if they wink back
Got fed up typing long, unique messages only to see them deleted without even being read half the time. Even though you fit all their criteria, it seems if you're not part of their click, you've got no chance |

Yes and no
Sometimes a follow up message is needed |

I send out messages (far more then a one liner) include a face pic and don't get much response.
It's frustrating when you see it unread and the person is online. So I send them a wink. If I still don't get a reply I chalk it down to their loss and move on.
I did get a wink and I winked back and the couple messaged me.
I think it does depend on the recipient and you shouldn't be hung up on whether it's a good or bad thing to do.

We look at who's winked us... We mostly message people, maybe wink if it says so in their profile, sometimes even wink at the same time as a message. Not sure there is a right thing really but we're more likely to respond to a message. Random friend requests generally block though, that's just odd. |

Me too, who does that leave.....

Sorry but you're wrong. It is a couple's profile and obviously doesn't check winks |

We used to use winks. And we used to reply to any wink we had.
But we started to notice that we'd reply to a wink, good or bad, with a polite message and get nothing.
Seemed we were the ones putting in the hard work for others, so now we don't bother with them at all.
We respect a polite message more, and prefer to put the effort in of a message when approaching someone. |

I see a wink as away of saying I like your profile.
Also as a massive time saver, it saves me time writing a message that won't get read, also it saves them time of deleting the unread message that I might have sent. |

"I send winks, mostly to people I will geographically never be able to meet, so it's like a nod of appreciation, or "I would if I could" "
Ohhh, because it comes across as an idiot from miles away who really should have looked at the profile first |

"In general men send them and women ignore them.
Women don't send them but men get excited when they get one "
Lmao! Yep, women have enough buttons to press in here; 'block' and 'bulk delete', without trying to find time in the day for 'wink' aswell |

Yeah, got to agree with that, suggest you change your tactics there... |

We just bulk delete them and it says this in our profile. |

I wink if I find a woman's picture/profile appealing, I'd rather there was a smile option instead as you in reality would smile at someone rather than wink. |

Always worth it unless profile says don't wink and that shows you haven't read the profile
What's the worse thing that can happen |

We wink most of the it's just easier to break the ice. We know we aren't everybodies cup of tea so a wink usually lets us know if someone might be interested or not. |

I bulk delete all winks, I think its lazy and if someone is genuinely interested they would message.
I also block anyone who sends a friend request, this isn't Facebook and I don't like the pervy photo collectors. Random friend requests are extremely annoying.
If I want them to see anything from my collection I'll attach it to a message. |

I know winks get ignored a lot.
However i have sent them and then received a message back, not often but on occasion.
I have stated on my profile the reason why i would send a wink and not a message. |

Went to wink you but it says single guys are blocked, your profile states.....Not looking for single guys. Men aged 34 to 54 only. I'm confused because you're definitely worth a wink. |

I don't check them on my single profile but do on the joint profile I have, as finding compatible couples is hard so I see a wink as them showing they are interested |

Perhaps it only works for couples looking for couples then, guess the single men winks are quite plentiful if a profile allows it. We kinda agree with the previous poster in that a message really isn't that much effort when making 1st contact and is a bit more personal. This is why we are more likely to respond to a message even if it's a no thanks and ordinarily we would initialy send a well written message rather than just wink if we thought there could be potential. |

I use winks and check the ones I get too, if I get wink from someone I like then I'll wink back, personally I think it's a good way to say I like what I see without bombarding someone with messages they may not want, just my opinion tho |
