Was wondering how people actually went about it pre-internet.
Did you have an A-Z for every town in your area?
Were contact mags for real or just a cash in? |

Used a contact mag (yes they were for real) and used a map and got directions. It could to take up to 3 weeks just to get to talk to the potential couple as you had to send a letter to the contact mag and they would forward it to the people and, if you didn't put a phone number in and wanted them to write back to you that could take another 3 weeks. |

Used contact mags too, yes they where for real, well the majority of them where unlike today where most of the so called "swingers sites" are merely cash cows for their owners, there are exceptions being Fabs being one. Yes I used to have a few A to Z's then when google maps appeared used them to print maps and directions, have recently got my first Sat Nav, I got fed up of feeding the printer ink and paper. |

It was done mostly using the Gnome system.
A house with 2 gnomes in the garden contained a swinging couple.
If the gnomes were pointed at the house it meant there was a party tonight.
If one gnome was knocked over that meant single meets only.
Two gnomes lying down meant STD's |

the independent .. Seeking friends at which I, Mr New, met the biggest pervert , in a good way, in my life.
He had been swinging since the 1960s and had thousands, literally thousands of pics of his adventures.
The 1970s one of what looked like the cast of the Good Life in mas orgies was hilarious

Ah remember the days of the free ads in loot where you actually put your tel no in print.
Time wasters had a whole different meaning back in 1983, when ut could take a week or more to set up a meet. |

Oh My God this really does age me!
Used to go to a well known theatre bar, the kind where you bought vouchers and exchanged the vouchers for drinks, come closing time the theatre goers would leave the doors would be closed and it was literally the car keys in the bowl. Problem was everyone knew my keys very well. A lot of it was word of mouth, the odd advert in H and E. Four or new five meets a year and the occasional party was a good year! Thank fuck for good friends and the Internet! |

I too started with contact mags and met a number of couples and single ladies. The code used in our local housing estate by ladies looking for daytime fun was an Omo washing powder packet in the window - Omo = Old Man Out! |
