This is in issue which comes up fairly frequently. I don't have a problem with it...doesn't really matter to me what someone does for a living.
I'm guessing some may use it as a way of attracting people they consider to be of a similar educational standard and some may just be proud of the fact that they have attained professional status.
I'd have more of a problem if it said "professionals only willing to meet other professionals"...but even then...well it's their profile so it's up to them how they want to describe themselves and what they're looking for.
I wouldn't neccessarily label them as being snobby though (mind you...I was a professional for many years ). |

My thoughts are….
As you say there are a lot of profiles which say they are professionals and seeking to meet other professionals… so with no shortage of professionals seeking professionals, the professionals must be having lots of fun. They certainly don’t appear to have time to come on the forums and start thread about non-professionals.

Maybe they just mean they work rather than dole doss!
I am a professional person as in your list above but not the prostitute one!!! However although Paul is educated to degree level he is certainly not professional lol although we do state educated on our profile though as we think that give the impression that we don't want to meet people who are better suited on the Jeremy Kyle show |

Just a thought but can any one tell us what difference being professional or not makes in swinging? Personally I cant even see the point of mentioning being professional on a swinging profile people are more interested in their likes, dislikes and if they share sexual interests, dont really think what type of work you do comes into it unless your gonna be trying to sell your trade at meet. not having a go at anyone but is it necessary to even mention it on here? |

I don't care what someone does for a job just as long as the house is clean and tidy and they are if i meet. I always pride myself and keep mine clean so like to see the same. I always think professional on a profile hints at that. Not always but usually its near enough. |

I love the ones who state 'proffesionel' yet the back ground of their pictures looks like they have just been burgled and Stevie Wonder done the interior design!
Why are they lying and trying to big themselves up?..inverted snobs maybe who knows?
You are what you are..or, you is what you is!...dont be ashamed of it either.
Im surprised some people dont state what newspaper they read as well, maybe we should have separate Sun readers forums and The Independent readers forums?
Its like people who describe themselves as middle class...are they trying to put themselves on a higher social plain than the lowly working class?...just because they have middle class 'values' and like a bit of tofu, jazz and art?
Ask a person who decribe themselve as 'middle class' wheher or not they actually wok for a living...and if they do ask why they are not working class ? |

Ah the thorny old issue.
How do you say that you want to meet people with a similar education, and ability to talk on the same subjects without you sounding like a snobby git!!
Answers on a postcard please |

For me when I think about professional in terms of Fab and profiles, I mean that I want to be able to talk to people on the same wavelength as me. If guys talk to me in a 'you got banging tits luv innit', well im not the type of person who speaks in that way.
Another way of putting it could be that im a snobby git and I want to meet other snobby gits. |

How can you be snobby when you're standing there, bent over the railings with no drawers on? |

Why oh why do people worry themselves with what others have on their profiles? Some of you really need a gallon of Sarsons to go with the chips on your shoulders!
In the two years I've been on this site I've never seen a "professional" person starting a thread about the hoi polloi: yeah, I said it, that are here, but nearly every other day, someone disgruntled at feeling excluded feels the need to start a snide thread!
If I see a profile stating how wonderful and hot the person is, how many times they go to the gym, pics showing ripped muscles and razor sharp Adonis' belt seeking same, I put down my Family Bucket of KFC and seek for someone looking for a woman with junk in her trunk!
There's no need for me to start a thread about gym bunny Armani models because guess what? Come close while I share a secret with you...closer...I'm not going to appeal to everyone!
I know: it's a revelation isn't it!
Leave people to have what the hell they like on their profiles and get over yourselves! |
