"Wow ....all the best with your ride
Im doing London to Paris next year cant wait x "
I've done the Ridelondon a couple of times and I'm doing the Velo Birmingham in September. I want to do the London to Paris as well. You should go to the South of France and ride up Mont Ventoux. It's a fantastic place to ride. |

"Yes it does raise lots of money but why can't it be held somewhere that would cause less disruption to others?
an area with no roads maybe "
Nice attempt! I was thinking more of country roads or large racetrack. |

"I rode it last year - loads of fun. Be careful on the descents! "
The descent down Leith Hill is such good fun. I hit 50.9mph and then had to slow down for a corner. Such an adrenaline rush. |

It is because it's a carry over from the 2012 Olympics and uses parts if the road race route. And allows those taking part to ride without fear of other non cycling Road users which is normally at the back of all of our minds when out on the road. |

I'm always puzzled by those who get upset at cycling event-related road closures, yet happily accept road closures for other non-cycling events. The denizens of the New Forest spring to mind.
Anyway, good luck to all those taking part, hope you all get a good time! |

"How did you all get on?? "
"How did you all get on?? "
Great day thanks. Weather was perfect and apart from a short mechanical issue I had no problems. Great course and it was clear for most of the route as I had an early start
Come out for a ride some time! X |

My town gets shut down for tparticipated in todays and last years race. I must check that they're okay. hile the ride London thing is going on. The town gets angry. And there always seems be one or two who die doing it.
I did enjoy the Olympics being here. But the ride London is a bit hmmmm.
One or two of my mates have participated in last years and this years race. I must go and check that they survived. |

Is one day that you've known about in advance really that much disruption? "
It's not just one day though...
There are cycle days, multiple runs, etc.
Like many others that work in London, I can't book every weekend off that there are road closures... |

Exactly how can people which work in London get into work when all roads are being shut from 4am no trains running at that time. A bit easier this year with some tubes running but still no thought given to actual workers trying to earn a living |

"I keep forgetting the ride london is on, looking to do the coast to coast next year"
My wife did the c2c last year, she had a great time. Epic route. How many days do you think you'll take to do it ? |

Depends on what you want from the trip, I've done the Workington to Sunderland in a day (135 miles) but took a slightly more leisurely 2 days to ride Walney to Whitby (180 miles).
Depending on the route, it can be either a big single day out or a nice few days. |

Carbon is always the better ride. I have a Cannondale SuperSix Evo. Lovely ride. |
