Yes clubs are the way forward, especially as you mention that you like socialising. If you meet people there, party invitations could follow

I'd love go to a club but going alone as a single guy, somehow just makes me feel uneasy.

I'm sure they're friendly places but I would just feel too self conscious!

I'd advise doing it. Lots of fun to be had. In swinging a certain degree of self confidence is needed, it's only like going in a bar.
