Got a real bargain at the BMF a few years ago a Triumph leather jacket for £35, look a little bit stupid riding a Honda / Yamaha /Kwack or Suzuki wearing it..so certainly considering another Triumph (last bike Speed Triple) |

Or look into a BMW gs1200, also shaft driven and are the same bikes used in long way round and long way down. If those shows taught me anything it's that they can take a beating |

They're quite big I'm only 5 7' so not sure but I do like them, my schedule is around 6 to 7 hours a day with a day off every three days so a lot of time on the bike but not over doing it |

1989 FJ 1200 & 1967 Triumph Trophy restoration project.
Love my FJ had one since I was in my 20s never had a problem with them loaded or unloaded and in my youth it got used as a sports bike keep up with mates on there exup's ,gsxr's & zx10's. As I say in my youth back in the days when you put your brain in your back pocket and whet everywhere flat out, now a days happy just to ride.
Lost a few good mates back in them days. |

We had 2 FJs years ago first was a 1990 3cv never had any problems fast as fuck and could keep up with just about anything even two up. second was one of whatever the last model was where the engine was rubber mounted instead of being part of the chassis like the 3cv, it was a pig, tank slapped all over the place. I hated it got shot asap before it killed me. Got an FJR 1300 now plus our old K1200rs both brilliant bikes. |

Prefer British or Japanese classics like FZR or my old GPZ I had the 550 in Eddie Lawson colours, or a VMax but they go for silly money these days |

I've got some rather tasty pics of my ex wife with 2 of my bikes. She's dressed in boots, leather mini and leather bra with black n Purple back combed hair. Now the bikes are old japs. Custom Gsx1100 katana and custom nasty z900. Now she's holding two chains attached to bother bikes as if she is holding them both back. Me and a mate both did burnouts. At the point the tyres started to smoke my mates wife took the pics. Great pics..I know my ex still as a framed pic on display to this day. |

I used to go to a lot of bike nights a few years back until one bike night told me and my friends we weren't welcome anymore because our sports bikes are too loud and that we aparantly "ride like pricks".
So gave up, most the ones down here are usually fair weather old harley riders in their 60's trying to reclaim their youths.
No offence to harley riders but these guys pissed me off |

Welcome to the biking family, but I wouldn't take the bikes on here as ones to look at for your first bike as you'd probably scare yourself sh*tless.
Get something that you can drop a few times and work your way up the ladder as your confidence grows

Loving this post as recommendations of bikes to look at though
Welcome to the biking family, but I wouldn't take the bikes on here as ones to look at for your first bike as you'd probably scare yourself sh*tless.
Get something that you can drop a few times and work your way up the ladder as your confidence grows
Whatever you do enjoy it and do the iom tt at least once in your lifetime"
^^ This, to which my bike will testify. Also, gives you the opportunity to work out what you want from the next one. Many places won't let you test ride until you've had you licence a year x |

I have my eye on the new BMW 310R - seems a perfect starter bike.
The Suzuki 600 mentioned further up also seems a reasonable first bike |

Best bike I ever had for winter suprisingly enough was a yamaha r125 with Michelin pilot sport 3 semi slicks on. Those tyres in rain and ice stuck to the road like glue and never let me down. |

The reason for the small bikes is because of the new test laws, you can only have a bike restricted to 46.6 brake, unrestricted it has to be no more of like 92? And have a certain power to weight.
But all the small bikes being made now are absolutely gash!
My Vfr400 restricted is raster in all forms (top end and acceleration) than say a 2016 cbr500 |

I realise they are made to take advantage of the licence restrictions.
But you don’t need to have superbike power to have a lot of fun.
I do a lot of commuting so something easy to ride slow and skinny would be ideal |
