"Well...I would suppose it would depend on how close you were to the deceased person and how traumatised you were by it "
A fair point. I'm going to a close friends dads funural this afternoon and I know there will be a few old flames there. What do you think I should do? |

I think you should be there for your friend or don't bother going at all |

What sort of fun?
Laughing at all the silly things the deceased used to do?
Or scaring their spouse by dressing in the deceased persons clothes n pretending they had come back from the dead? |

"Just drop a couple of 'well there's more than one stiff here that's about to get planted in a hole, if you know what I mean' comments and see where it goes. "
This made me chuckle!! |

OP, why are you actually going? Is it to support your friend or try to hook up with people who might be genuinely upset or genuinely there to support the family?
My advise is grow up and support your friend, or stay away.

Personally think this is totally insensitive. This is the last thing I would want after a funeral, more so if was a family member. If one of my "friends" was to make such an attempt then it would be the end of that friendship |

"What are people's thoughts on this? Wrong or a good way to lighten the mood?"
Totally wrong, what kind of friend are you? And how arrogant you are to think your old flames will drop their knickers or underpants for you after a funeral x |

Omg hate to think how you treat an acquaintance or someone who is just a normal friend if you are thinking about if ur gonna get ur end away at a close friends dads funeral while she is hurting....my close friends dad died a few years back and I didn't leave his side the whole day and I was devastated for him...can't even believe someone would even be thinking about it |

Let's face it, funerals are the worse place to be. To be honest i would prefer it to be my own rather then have to go to another one. (And btw I am not having a funeral.)
I am sure that there are other people there who would be grateful for a bit of light relief - ease the tension.
But of course you have to be respectful, not crude or lewd. |

The widow and any other children would hardly be thrilled to see someone using their loved one's funeral as an opportunity for sex.
How long do funerals last? An hour maybe two even the most hardened among us can last that long without sex. |

I am sure that the OP was intending to use the funeral as a pick up place, not to hump someone up against the back of the crypt. |

I'll be honest when the time comes for me to attend my father's funeral I doubt I'll be paying much attention to what the other people are doing. But if any friend of mine used it as a "pick up place" (not that I think they would) they wouldn't be my friend any more. |

"It's actually a natural reaction the human psyche reacts to death by wanting to reproduce.
I don't want to reproduce! Just have some fun!
yes but the psyche cant tell the difference between safe sex and bareback so go for it lol "
legend!
I think it all depends on *how close* is the close friend. Funerals bring people together, that's one of their most important function. Once the funeral is over, those further away from the grief can go off and do what they like. But the closer you are to those affected the more you should be focusing on their need.
Losing a parent is devastating... If you are distracted by how to arrange getting off with your old flames, how will you be able to support your friend? If your friend does not expect support from you other than you showing up, paying your respect, then leaving, then sure go ahead. But if they really are a close friend, I'd leave hours after the funeral to hang with them instead. |
