Based on the dictionary definition it would be impossible?
romance
noun
1.a feeling of excitement and mystery associated with love.
verb
1. try to gain the love of; court.
You can't really have a sense of mystery with someone you see almost every day and you already have their love so you can't gain it.
Maybe married people can just be intimate or sensual but not romantic? |

Not sure I would define romance in exactly the same way as the dictionary. For me it means little gestures and thinking about the other. Romance often not associated with sexual excitement which is implied with the former definition? |

I do a lot of little gestures for my wife but they are quite mundane. For example, picking out a new flavour of drink she'll like or buying something useful for the house. But I'm not sure shakespear would have written plays about that. |

Or maybe not...
Perhaps that romantic just means putting someone else first in your life wanting what makes them happy and that delight at seeing the shine in another's eyes at a look gesture or simple action done to please a partner friend or lover |

Buying something useful for the house is certainly not romantic in my eyes! Unless you are the house perhaps |

''' or buying something useful for the house."
I knew someone who brought his wife a new kitchen pedal bin as a Christmas present.
She threw it at him, was not impressed
It Was Not me!

But as a discretionary present it's better than flowers innit |

I would prefer a bin than flowers, but its never a romantic gesture |

We continually try new things in the bedroom , which is romantic in our eyes .
Little personal gifts for no other reason than a gesture of our love for each other .
Making coffee , a meal , arranging a surprise day or night out .
All manner of romantic gestures which keep things as exciting now as they were when we got together seven years ago |

So you disagree with the definition in the OP then? |

Yes , the mystery is the unexpected coffee , or small gift , or trying something different in bed .
We never take our love for each other for granted , so we do tend to feel like we are still courting sometimes . |

"Aw this post makes me happy reading all about the romantic gestures but also has now made me sad as I can't remember anyone doing anything romantic for me in the past "
Someone will buy you a bin one day |
