i think a lot of people assume that if they see the word 'smoker' they are going to smell or even worst taste like an ashtray.
what they feel to realise is that many smokers are 'considerate' smokers in that they don't do it in company or indoors, they carry breath fresheners, body sprays etc with them etc
i have met smokers and not one has turned up smelling like he has just stumbled out of a tap room
i am a non smoker and have never smoked but i don't harbour any irrational and often unjustified feelings towards those that do (as long as they don't expect to light up in my flat) |

We specify that we don't meet smokers but don't critisise any one for smoking, we both used to but managed to give up. We just don't like the smell, it's as simple as that, and we find that not smoking for an hour or two doesn't usualy make that much difference to how smokers smell and taste. Z |

I stopped smoking in April. It's incredibly hard to do. I also find that I have a hard time dealing with the smell now.
I don't want to meet smokers. On the one hand it's pretty gross, on the other I'd likely try and steal their ciggies.

I don't smoke never have, my partner does. He does not smoke in front of me or in my house. I don't care if someone smokes or not it is their choice. I also think the ex smokers are worse than people who have never smoked. I hate the 'smoke police'. |

They have already started with the drinkers, news reports of binge drinkers,
cheap alcohol in supermarkets, extra tax, just the same routine as tobacco.
I heard that one of the purpose's of the now scrapped identity cards with smart chips was it could be scanned in the pub, off licence etc. and limited you to the amount do gooders thought you could have daily. |

Just wanna say im on day 4 of quitting after smoking for 6 years and doing really well!  now the smoking police can sit on my middle finger cause i aint a fagash anymore. Nor dod i ever smell ro taste like cigarettes. I was always very conscious of not smelling like fags.

I would agree with that too... however, we're kidding ourselves. I can smell it when someone walks by me, when they stand beside me at the checkout in the supermarket, when they sit on the bus etc.
I was a considerate smoker and I don't think I reeked of fags either but I'm afraid I probably did.
And I've smoked for 25 years... no more! I am a non smoker and I'm never going back! |

i am a very considerate smoker how ever its not really an issue i would much rather meet some one sober who smokes than some one totally shit faced!! d*unkeness shows incapability also unleashed confidence and unfortunatley uncontrolable bodily functions and a gob like a sewer occasionly.

Our son started smoking at the age of 14... He swore blind that he didn't smoke, but one day I gave him a towel to wipe the sweat of him after a game of footy... When he gave it back, I told him I could smell cigarettes on it. He denied it so I told him we would experiment! I held it up and put it into a plastic bag and sealed it.
The following day I opened the bag and guess what? Yep! It stank of fags! He had to admit it and realised that is why we could smell smoke on him. Whatever we take into our bodies, taints what comes out! Eat strawberries for a week and then get a woman to taste your cum! Same as with smoking!

This has actually stayed civil for a change.
We cant do with the smoking police either, and nowadays i have no patience and end up really laying into them, especially when they purposly walk through smoking areas just to cover their mouth and nose up and create a bit of drama.
We give credit to those who stop smoking, but if we stopped we certainly wouldnt get up on our high horse like many do.
On the other hand though we have noticed more and more profiles that wont meet smokers. Some even message or wink at us

We are both light smokers...both gave up for a few years at one point before starting again.
We are honest about it on our profile, if others choose not to meet us because we smoke then we respect that.
But what does get on our nerves are those who try to lecture us about being smokers.
We choose not to play with those who drink heavily as don't find dribbling, slurring, people stumbling around attractive or those who smell like a brewery.
But like everything each to their own....

Is 'won't meet smokers' the default setting or are most of the people who contact us telling pork pies?
We wouldn't contact someone who says 'won't meet smokers' but other than that we don't take too much notice of such things. Judging by the number of people we have met who 'claim' to be non-smokers it seem that its more of a fashion statement as its the 'fashion' to state safe-sex, non-smoker, single, etc.
Fully accept some people won't or cannot tolerate smokers for whatever reason. Equally we can't always tolerate non-smokers who claim not to be bothered by it. We can sometimes see them thinking... 'WHAT you are having ANOTHER ONE!!!' They try to hide it behind a facial expression that looks like they have just stepped barefoot in shit |
