Why do people not read profiles properly

It states on our profile clearly several times that we live in SW France, where we run a naturist/swingers B&B. At least once a week we get messages asking for a meet. Had a message today from a couple who sounded really nice, when we replied saying we live in SW France, they replied saying sorry, they hadn't read our profile properly. It only happens on this website, we belong to another swingers website & we don't get this problem. If anybody has got an answer to this please let us know. |

It says CAMBERLEY on the top of our profile because this site does not allow foreign addresses. If you read the rest of the profile it states very clearly we live in France. |

You can put anything in as to where you live.
I've seen people living in:
It's a secret
Fairyland
On a need to know basis
Somewhere only we know
Cloud cukoo land

Yes, I know. That's how I managed to answer your initial question. In your reply though, you said - and I quote "If you read the rest of the profile it states very clearly we live in France." which I took to mean the rest of your profile NOT the CAMBERLEY bit at the top. |

Personally despite reading your profile, I'd still assume you lived in France but visited Camberley often enough to be on the UK site?
Our bad perhaps, but it seems a fair assumption for us or anyone else on the site to make? |

Camberley is in surrey so maybe that's confusing people ......just a thought

The rules must of changed since we first joined. The replies we are getting prove my point, people only read the headline & don't bother to read the rest of the profile. |

You asked if anyone could tell you why it keeps happening.....I think general opinion agrees as to why it happens so you have your answer...you can do what you want with that information  |

I read the whole profile, and could still easily make the same assumption.
Particularly as your last verification 7 months ago was in the UK, so would further assume you visit the UK often.
Perhaps remove CAMBERLEY, it might help?
Of course it's your choice to join, and appear to be actively looking for meets, but may I respectfully suggest that if you are members on a UK swingers site, looking for meets, don't be suprised that people from the UK may message you from time to time? |

The fact of the matter is that people make assumptions - about Location and also about whether or not someone has read a profile. I did read it, actually, right down to the the last sentence about putting "I know you live in South France"  |

We shall remove Camberley from our profile. we do sometimes visit the uk. Veris from the last 2 years are from people who have visited us in France.
Still nobody has answered our question, why do people not read the whole profile. |

No one can know why people don't read the whole of your profile. How can anyone know that except the person who didn't read it? I doubt whether they would answer though even if you asked them.

If they can't be bothered to read the whole profile you have to ask yourself, can they be bothered to turn up for the meet, can they be bothered to look presentable for the meet, can they be bothered to make an effort when you agree to have some fun. As we said it only happens on this site, we have never had the same problem on the other site we belong to. |

The OP's profile is very clear to us, they live in France.
It will be easier designing a time machine than figure out why people can't read and comprehend basic information. We also notice, many struggle with what's being said in messages but the world would be a boring place if everyone was the same. We need tricky and annoying people |

I would say 'probably not'. As was mentioned above, people not reading profiles is a scourge of Fab. I have no idea why. No one does. There's not a lot you could do to improve matters tbh.
Why not relax a bit about it and join in on the forums more? You'll get chatting to people a lot more than relying on your profile for contact. |

We made a mistake once. We received a lovely message from a couple asking if we would invite them to our house party. We quite fancied them from their photos so we replied with a friend request. We got a curt reply back. Whoops - we had read as far as the their last line in their profile, which said they don't accept friend requests from people they hadn't met. My bad! I guess they thought we hadn't read their profile. In our defence though I guess they missed our sentence saying we only invited people we had met who were on our friends list (not relevant now as profile has been rewritten).

I'm afraid its the "Camberley" part that throws it all off. It currently states that you are within 10 miles of me (Camberley is that close to me) and people will chance message you if you are seen to be that nearby.
You'll find that a lot of people don't read profiles and it's a fairly regular complaint. |

I'd also point out that, at least at the moment, it's saying you're only 40 miles from me. And I'm at least 60 miles from France. I think there are some quirks with the fab location thing that when you don't allow it access to your actual location, it uses something else instead.
So perhaps the issue is not just that the don't read ( though agree, they rarely do!) but that they think you're in the UK at the moment and nearby. |
