If you vape should you put yourself down as a smoker?
Jump to: Newest in thread
"Both of us have stopped smoking cigarettes but hubby vapes now. Do people think that he should be considered a smoker or not on our profile?"
I really don't like cigarette smoke, but can put up with vape fumes quite happily.
So I would suggest not putting him as a smoker, but possibly mentioning it on the profile itself?
But others may have a different viewpoint. |

I'd say yes as I don't like the smell of some vapes so I'd prefer someone didn't vape around me. It depends how much you vape too. Can you get through a meet without vaping? |

"Good question. We both do but could go without. I think it's totally different to smoking as there's no smell residue. "
I vape and smoke, never affected my meets, there is no hope lol
I would put non smoker as vaping is different and doesn't carry the same stigma

She smokes and I vape, I haven't put myself down as a smoker.. although last time we went out for a drink I did smoke a couple
Makes me wonder, I know people say they won't meet smokers, amazing how that seems to change when they're at a club.. and we've also had people add us, or talk to us when their profile clearly says they won't meet smokers.. |

I've read after 6 months of Vaping, and no cigarettes you can officially start ticking the ex-smoker box.
As for on here, as a vaper myself, we have clicked none smoker, but make sure it's clear on our profile that I vape, so those that don't like it are informed.

I think this comes down to why people don't want to play with smokers. I'd imagine it would be down to not wanting to be close up and intimate with someone who smells of cigarettes? So if they only vape and the lingering smell isn't unpleasant then I don't see why it would be an issue.
I'd class vaping and smoking as two different activities. Maybe tick non-smoker but mention that you vape outside occasionally during a meet? |

Vaping is still smoking. You're just smoking something slightly different to a cigarette.
Which ever opinion someone has, you ought to put it on your profile you smoke from Vaping pipes etc or from a cigarette. All emit artificial chemicals that your potential guest may not want to breathe in nor smell from you. |

I like to be told if someone vapes as the liquids that contain PG give me a headache whilst VG is fine!
I'm a social smoker and don't smoke on the day of a meet if I know the other is against smoking.
I think it's about treating others how you would want to be treated |

No, vaping is different. For example the composition of eliquid and the resulting exhaled vapour doesn't pose risks akin to tabacco smoke , passively .
Not all liquids contain nicotine either. Beyond the inhale / exhale dynamic both share , they're different. Vaping is closer to a hookah in that what is exhaled is usually harmless water vapour. |

It's a foreign odour. Same as if you had a pet. I'd mention it. |

No its not different. In their own way, they're both the same. It's not a natural substance and no one should be forced to breathe in its smoke, fumes etc. Giving someone the choice, is polite and shows consideration towards others. Given a choice, I wouldn't meet a vaper smoker nor a cigarette smoker. However I'd be thankful by them telling me before a potential wasted meet. |

In the same way, deodorant, aftershave, perfume, wine, beer, coffee (I could go on and on) are foreign odours?
should we all get weighed down in the pedantics of a long list of potential smells? |

People have an absolute right not to meet people based on something they dislike, and it is fair for people to be open and honest about doing it/not liking it, but Instead of looking silly and using excuses that are completely none factual, and clearly based on ignorance of the subject, just say you don't like it, and leave it at that. |

Yes.
If you inhale anything & clouds of pretend smoke (in the form of steam) comes out, you're unlikely to be confused as a steam train. |

Yeah, but my chai and rose vape might not be as whiffy as wet dog. |

Someone had a strawberry flavoured vape the other day. Strawberries happen to be one of my favourite fruit but to smell it unexpectedly is still jarring. |

Strange attitude. Smells are the least controllable thing in our lives. Sometimes unfortunately. |
