So about 24 hours ago I posted in the forum about how I was feeling and how lonely and well to be honest, just how damm shitty I was feeling.
The flood of messages to my inbox and on the forum from all types of people who are on this site has be overwhelming, in a positive way of course.
The support and messages of encouragement have been truly, truly appreciated. I have tried to reply to all of you that messaged but I know some may of slipped through, i apologise if I haven't got round to replying but I will do eventually.
But what else also caught my attention was the amount of people, both males and females that messaged me saying how they are feeling and are dealing with the same thing. I don't think people who have never suffered from some form of mental illness, and it is an illness, will ever understand how crippling depression can be. There have been times where I have been in rooms and bars surrounded by loads of people and friends and I've never felt so lonely.
Hearing from so many of you and your stories and suggestions on how to get through it has been really inspirational.
Knowing how much it has helped me I would also like to offer my inbox to anyone who at anytime feels lonely or depressed. Even if you want to talk about stuff you've done today wether it what you've watched on tv or anything like discussing how awesome the new Guardians of the Galaxy film is. Btw there's 5 post credit scenes so don't leave till the lights go up!
So once again thank you. You guys really have been FAB. |

It was a pleasure to be able to help and support you OP.
I know first hand how debilitating and shit it can be and how it feels. I also think you are right that there isn't enough support, help, knowledge or discussion around mental illness and it's effects. It's largely thought of as something to be ashamed of and hidden, so well done to the OP for being brave enough to discuss it on a public forum.
Glad that you had a lot of support and felt that it was useful OP. Please keep in touch and look after yourself. Xx |

Whilst I didn't see the first post, I'm glad the OP has had support from other forumites.
I know sometimes things can get a little fraught in here, or a little "samey"... but when it matters most, the forumites are a real help to those who need advice, support, or sometimes just a shoulder to cry on.
You guys are awesome. |

Nice one! Glad you've had the support and positive response on here. Outside of Fab, it's worth searching for a site online called Big White Wall. It's a kind of anonymous support network for people suffering from depression and other mental health issues. My GP told me about it.
