Why do some read a message then mark as unread On a first contact? I've seen this happen a few times. Why not simply delete if uninterested

I'll sometimes read a message but don't have the time to reply there and then so mark unread with the intention of going back later

Because they are waiting until they have time to actually reply OR they know you're watching and don't want to get bombarded with "why did you delete my message" messages

Seems fair enough..

If a couple, one half may read it then mark unread until the other half can read it.

As s single lady, I may read a message and then come back to it when less busyI do try to reply to all my mail, but I don't get many anyway.

I do it if I don't have time for a proper reply, when I want to have a proper peruse of the profile later, because I can, it varies. It's largely since someone sent a quick and actually quite cheery message which I read and didn't reply to and then within less than five minutes sent another one psycho ranting that I hadn't replied and wishing that someone close to me died. It's basically a fuckwit freak filter tool.

They do get deleted, just at a later date once the sender has stopped hovering over his sent mail.

Reading the question again may help.

I asked why" not why not" and of course it's up to the recipient to do whatever they want with it. No one questioned that. How on earth can I be a stalker or wrong one for asking a simple question... good grief

That would be weird. I currently have several sent messages still unread, and one read but not deleted - all several weeks old, and frankly I just wish they'd delete them so that I know where I stand!

Whenever I send a message I immediately delete them in the sent folder. If they reply they do, if they don't then that's fine. Just get rid of them, stops you constantly checking.

If they're several weeks old I think you know the answer. Focus on your inbox rather than your outbox (and read the FAQS, no reply = sorry, no thanks) You can't control how others manage their inboxes.

Cos I like the colour yellow

Really though it is like someone above said, I may not have time to reply or look at the senders profile to decide if I wish to reply or what to put in the reply.

Because it's easier to delete 'all read ' automatically so if I don't want to delete it I'll mark it as 'unread'.

yeah. I would assume that if they don't reply that day then they are not actually interested. If a reply pops up a few days later then you have a bonus
