"When a woman describes herself as this I'm really not sure how to take her...
What are people's definition for the word? Or do your ideas vary?
"
I think it's healthy that women reclaim the word. Given that there's no equivalent word for men, 'slut' is there to reinforce the idea that women shouldn't have multiple sex partners, but we'll turn a blind eye to men doing it.
This actually makes sense in a historical context where:
a) inheritance rights are a high priority
b) the mother of a child is never really in doubt but the father is
c) lack of birth control means sex = children
In those circumstances it's logical to restrict the sexual freedom of the woman more than the man. Thankfully those conditions are no longer present so i think the word is obsolete and needs to be DELETED. |

I know its a derogatory word and wouldn't use it to anyone unless I knew they'd accept it - I.e. wouldn't call a stranger I'd just met in a club one, or refer to someone who I didn't know well as one.
I guess I use it to describe myself show I'm up for anything, open to offers and generally want to be used sexually by people for their pleasure.
I also call myself a whore when I don't take money for sex, but offer myself up like that. Probably not right to do that either, but I enjoy the humiliation of being described like that...but then I dress trashy too so its probably my psyche.
You shouldn't use it to denigrate anyone unless they are willing, like a sub... |

I've always viewed it as...
Slut is a person who loves having sex and lots of it.
Slag is person who doesn't necessarily like it, but will do it anyway (for whatever reason). |

I was seeing this younger girl once and she was always telling me how much of a dirty slut she was. Anyway that night we were enjoying each other till I asked her when I am getting to see this dirty slut you told me about in which she stopped what she was doing as she thought she was being a dirt slut.
She learned a lot that evening |

I wouldn't call a woman a slut unless she was initiating it or calling herself so in the first place.
The message I get from her saying that is she wants something or she wants something harder. or maybe wants to get more adventurous |

Many women have taken ownership of the term that was previously reserved as a misogynistic term of malign.
"Slut" to most these days just means sexually uninhibited and comfortable.
Probably more offensive to call someone a virgin these days tbh.

Most likely, she's most likely a bloke called Gavin or Steve who's posting pictures of the ex that decided she could do better. I'm sure there a girls out there that do refer to themselves in derogatory ways, but the vast majority of women I've met, even in this lifestyle, show at least a little bit of class until the action starts. |

I'm reliablly informed that "Fuckboy" is the closest thing to a male equivalent. |

The only truely offensive misandrist equivalents have traditionally been terms that undermine masculinity or question sexuality..
Men that are "slutty" are still largely seen as lovable rogues or something like that ..
Fuckboy is a good one though, nicely encapsulates "immature, unfussy, male slut".. meaning. |
