Last minute impromptu visit to a club in north London, haven't been in a long time to this particular one. On entry, they ask to take my photo to keep on their system...hmm what do we think.. Receptionist said its for "easier identication next time you enter"..
I'm not sure |

I hope you pulled a ridiculous sticky out tongue face and did the peace sign. |

I can understand why the club would do this but I can only imagine there will be a certain element of the clientele who will not be comfortable with this for obvious reasons and it begs the question of how secure is the data and what damage it could it do in the wrong hands x |

Exactly this, but I'm single and still wouldn't want my face pic floating around in one of these places. |

The issue of our image being captured is important in my opinion. I reckon that on an average shopping trip it's probably recorded loads of times and mine's recorded each time I enter my workplace (it's also on my security pass). I wouldn't be happy about my face being kept on the records of any club I went to not just a swinging one given the ease with which data security can be breached and I'm not best pleased that a remote person can watch me browsing in shops or walking past the window. However it is as they say "the world we live in" and objections are usually met with "it's for your own security". |

"How was it OP? Good night?
Loads of places do this, though. I wouldn't worry!"
Very quiet night..like I said I hadn't been in a very long time and it used to be packed on Saturdays! Last night was so different. Got chatting to a couple who said it has become less hectic this year, not sure why? Too many new competing venues? I was with a friend who really wanted to see the place for the first time so I took her. Personally it's not my favourite venue because they don't have a single private area. Sometimes I really don't want to be watched at all and that's not possible there..
Anyway, I think I annoyed them because I was questioning the whole photo taking thing. Meh

It is quite a worry how our data and images of ourselves, are being used and stored onto devices beyond our control. I recall many years ago, Argos wanted your fingerprint on receipts, when purchasing their products in store. I disagreed and flatly refused. They still sold me the item anyway and soon they stopped asked altogether. I wouldn't like a picture of myself stored somewhere at a club, which could be stolen or misused.
Was this a requirement upon entry into the club? If it wasn't, people can always refuse, but if it was and people voted with their feet, the club will soon lose numbers. It just sounds to me that it's making it more easier for the club, than the patron. |

Wonder if this is just there's or it's linked into one of the national night club databases?
If linked then your image and data is being shared with a lot of venues and they will know where you have been and when... |

She kept assuring that it's just for them, it's not online, no one has access, not online, not online, very secure bla bla
It's so that I don't have to worry about bringing my ID card- I said I have NO problem doing that!
Gah, I was really caught off guard..2am, with Newbie friend, arguing this..I'm still feeling disgruntled and annoyed at myself for not refusing..but then they were going to refuse me entry..don't care to come back anyway..but in the moment I wasn't thinking properly |
