I personally find its much easy for holding the social side of the relationship. My mentality and values as well as my interests are that of someone older than myself (conventionally) meaning I get on with both male and females that are usually in their thirties/forties so females in that bracket tend to be who I'm drawn to intellectually and for me thats a big thing.
