I would have to say some of my most effective traits would have to be my long red fingernails, and my teeth being used on all parts of my playthings body.
For causing pure pain, i would have to go with something i like to call my scorpion flogger, 12 inches in length made from thick leather thongs, it causes exquisite pain, leaves the most sexy looking marks, and can if used right bring blood (although i have never gone that far with it).
