Your interpretation of the wink

When you receive a wink, what's your interpretation of it. Do you assume that a meet is likely or do you just think on it as a friendly hello.
In our case winks are sent to say hello, there is something about you I like, I'd like to exchange hellos so I can get a bigger picture of you as a person. A lot of the winks seem to be misconstrued and I get messages back which state, thanks for wink, where do we go from here, when is the best time for you to meet?
I've also had messages from people in response to a wink and I haven't answered the messages. I then get the "you winked us, we replied, you ignored, you must be playing games".
Maybe we are using the wink incorrectly. Men assume its me, Feebs, winking, it never is, its Chris and he winks as a kind of bookmark for nice guys or nice looking cocks (or tits if he's looking at a couple). We don't use the winking system as a serious invitation to play though as we like to chat to people before any kind of meet.
Is it leading people on unnecessarily though? |

we use the wink as a way of saying "hi lets get to know one another and see where it takes us" its not an automatic invitation to get down and dirty , just an icebreaker if you like..
some winks have lead to amazing fun times and others to making friends.. |

I wink for two reasons, either to say 'hello, you're nice' (imagine a mental image of me rubbing knees and gurning) often before I send a message or to forum folk to just acknowledge them for some reason, maybe great pictures or profile etc, often before we begin chatting in pm.

I always check my winks but nine times out of ten they are from guys who live just too far away. I guess its their way of saying 'look at me', but if they lve in Truro, whats the point? |

I forget about winks for months at a time and when I do get around to looking at them, I tend to just delete them ... as I have no idea how long ago they winked.
I do sometimes send winks.... it's just a way to may be get someone to look at your profile... unless they are like me and forget to check the list. |

We don't use winks, as we just feel if you want to say hi, then say hi!
When we receive them though we assume that somebody is interested in us, and send a message back thanking them for the wink, and then things can go from there if everyone wants it to! |

well to the op
if you winked me and i sent you a message in return which you then ignored or deleted (providing my face pic wasnt attached) i would think that a little strange.
winks for me is just to say 'ello, like your profile' kinda thing, and would be interested in chatting further
its defo not a guaranteed meet, far from it, its like a wave across a crowded hall |

Being a single guy I dont get loads of winks from single Fems or Couples. When I do I See winks as a "Friendly Hello we may be interested" and that means "maybe" It always prompts me to look at the persons profile.
I personally think if you get winked back then its a great way to break the initial ice before messaging
Although saying that I hardly ever wink to anyone as lots of people seem to not like winks. and the fact that there are just so many single guys to choose from
I can also imagine that some people may just wink at everyones profile just to see if they get lucky
I have a short Hotlist of couples and singles maybe I should start winking them

Yes I can see your point. Sometimes though a wink is sent cos the avatar is attractive and the profile is nice. When the first message from the receiver is sent to me, it may say hi thanks for wink, when we meeting then, and I will ignore those messages. If I don't ignore and respond with a thanks but I'm not sure now, then I get the 'well you winked me, you did the running not me' so I can't win. |

It's clear on my profile and I still get them.
To me it says, "I can't even be arsed trying it on with a dumb one liner. Give me a come-on because clearly I'm so wonderful, in my chickenshit can't-be-arsed world, then I might deign to let you chat with me."
Now it also says, "I didn't read your profile at all. How fab am I?" |

I don't send winks and I don't read winks (I just 'delete all'). When I'm looking for a new playmate, I browse profiles to find what I am looking for.
Sorry to the guys who thought a wink might make me look at their profile .... nah! |

"I take it as someone is interested and saying "have a look at my profile" if i like their profile i will wink back "
Exactly the same. They don't bother me, it means if I'm not interested it's taken me less time to realise. If I do like them, I'll wink back and expect them to send a message if they wish to take it further - and vice versa on my part.
Saying that, I prefer a message cos it gives me something nice to read |

Usually take it to mean that they might have an interest in our profile or photos and are testing the waters......it's also a good way to get you to look at their profile.
To be honest think we have only winked once or twice as we would normally just send a mail if interested. |

"Based on my experience, I now regard winks from people I have never contacted as lazy and now just bin them"
I see where yo're coming from but I've had some great, regular meets that started out as winks!
I guess that's why I just wink back, I'd never send a message. It's sort of a test to see if they have the balls and know how to send a decent message lol |

It's just that usually after I sent a quick polite "thanks for the wink" message I got no sort of reply so I wonder what was the point of that? Of course, I get only a fraction of the winks I am sure a single female gets. Maybe I should also just wink back |

If we get a wink, it's considered like a poke. It's a sortof 'we came across your profile and decided to say hiya' without the complication of writing people messages...
... and usually a message if anyone means any more than just that... we usually wink back in kind lol

I must say, I'm pleased to read other folks opinions on 'winks' - I feel they are a good thing, in a 'ice-breaker' kind of way, as folks have already said...
Don't ever get a response from they though! |

wink if we like something about the profile. more often than not get a message back. if they wink back we would send message. when we get winks we look at their profile and wink back if we are interested. if they dont message, they dont message lol would have no idea cos we wouldnt remember.

Winks?...oh yes...I remember......
They can either mean people are interested in you after seeing you, or reading something that you may have written.
We preferred them to blind friends invites from people who clearly hadnt read our profile
We accepted them as a compliment. |

if they/he has a face pic of the male in particular on their profile then we may be interested in pursuing it further .. if no pics visible then we block (as clearly they'd not read our profile first |

We see a wink as a harmless, easy, non committal way of showing interest.
If you get a wink and like the look of the sender just wink back, if not don't.
No need to think up a "Thanks but no thanks" reply that might be misconstrued as upsetting, either wink back or don't!

i wink at newbies mainly, then maybe later on when theyve pics or verications I might send mail.I find it rather amazing the gesture can be taken as laziness and i dont see it as laziness when Im winked off!-its the shortest form on communication on fab yes but its also just a highlighter of what could be had, next we will be repremanded for winking up profile that looks at u many times doesnt send u anything, so if they look I send a wink if Im interested...ive a fairly busy time too its not JUST fems and cpls who dont have the time(im not saying Im overloaded with mail) just saying sometimes im busy chatting or elsewhere off fab.

You send winks BEFORE you've seen any pic's?
Now that is living dangerously!
Seriously though, we agree. A wink on the site is like a nice sexy wink from a stranger in a bar, you either smile politely and walk away with your drink or walk over and say "Hi".

We've always seen the wink as an interested in chatting and getting to know each-other as we've caught their eye somehow. We don't think it's a possible meet straight away as they have to pass our many gruelling mental and physical tests before a possible meet |
