I've seen a lot of veris that have been used to praise the author as much as, or more than, the recipient.
This is a fictitious one to illustrate my point:

Its the clubs and events that do this that really crack me up ..... he cane to our great party, which was attended by brilliant people, organised by the fantastic us, come to the next one, when it is, etc. Why bother showing them? |
