hi guys, we have been thinking that in the vanilla world any woman having sex with a guy outside of a relationship would be called a slut,in the swinging world this happens often, so are all swinging women sluts, or at what point would you call a woman on here a slut, or is the word obsolete and only serves as a naughty fun playword as many on here use the word in their profile names
this is a fun thread, opinions pls |

I wouldn't call any of the women here sluts in the cold light of day as that'd be rude, judgemental and hypocritical. I don't think of myself as one either and the only opinion on such matters that I actually care about is my own.
It *does* have its place as a naughty playword on occasion though ... |

Does it help explain the male female ratio here?
Boys are naturally sluttier than girls? |
Reply privately (closed, thread got too big)
I always considered a slut to be a whore or prostitute. If anyone referred to me as a slut I would be offended. I am a single woman who likes sex, absolutely nothing wrong with that and to use derogatory terms to describe it is wrong.
Any man who refers to women as "sluts" is definitely not the kind of man I want to meet. I prefer guys who actually respect me. |

Completely this ^^^. Even the title heading got my back up. So tired of seeing this thrown around. Just feels like a throwback word to keep women in their place to me...Surprise surprise, women are sexual beings too. Nobody has the right to label a women like that, yet men are commended for having multiple partners. Actually the word is meaningless in Swinging. Its not the word but peoples definition of it that is the issue.
Negative judgmental disaproving (no place on fab, really if you wish to be a prude what the fuck are you doing here???!)
Positive playful complementary ( then bring it on i call myself a slut all the time and love it!)
The word is nothing what you mean by it is everything.

depends on your perception of the word slut?
noun
1.
Disparaging and Offensive. a sexually promiscuous woman, or a woman who behaves or dresses in an overtly sexual way.
2.
Informal. a person with a seemingly insatiable but often undiscerning desire to do or have something specified: guilty of being a shoe slut;
a book slut, reading five books at once.
3.
Archaic.
a prostitute; harlot.
an immoral or dissolute woman.
a dirty, slovenly woman. |
Reply privately (closed, thread got too big)
According to the dictionary a slut is someone who has many casual sexual partners
I'm ok with that label as being able to have sex outside our relationships is something my husband and I strived for for so many years
I'd even go as far as to say I'm proud to be a slut as we battled for years with societies view that it should only be the two of us within our relationship, until we decided f@ck it our lives, our bodies it's up to us who sees & touches them |

"Slut is a term of endearment
Oh I'll remember that, the next time I get I get told I'm probably nothing but a fucking slut, the next time I politely say no thank you haha "
"Nothing but a fucking slut" is not a comment that would ever come from a swinger type. "Beautiful slut" comes closer. Initially thought "slut" was a putdown too, so questioned everytime someone used it. Consequently I've heard many exquisite odes to sluts (specific ones that people had met during their swings), as well as general pro-slut manifestos. These expressed real appreciation and even admiration and care for the more sexually open/adventurous.
The real question is not whether we are sluts or not but whether we can be sluts (ie. extraordinarily sexual) and respect each other at the same time. I don't really care if the general population is trailing behind, but I look to the swinging world for this type of appreciation. I pick play partners accordingly. |

This is very true. I used to see the term 'slut' as derogatory. But that is because traditionally and historically a woman who had multiple partners was not a good thing, and therefore to be a slut was not good. This is 'vanilla' thinking. When I joined the swing scene I started seeing that word being used, but in a complimentary way. I soon realised that as swingers we embrace sexual liberation and the right to have multiple partners, thereby the word used to describe this type a woman now ceased to be a negative word. All that's actually happened is that swingers accept sexual behaviour that is considered wrong in the vanilla world. Why drop the word just because we are now embracing behaviour that was previously unacceptable. Me personally I love the swing scene. All my life I battled with trying not to be a slut, and now I can without judgement! |

It's back to the old catch 22 situation where if a man has many partners he's doing well if a women has the same she is derided for it...for me it's upto the individual and what they are happy with...I think all here are hedonistic in their lifestyle what is wrong if someone wants more pleasure and seeks it...everyone is unique and has their own desires. I would never class or judge a woman on how many partners they have had or want to have...as long as they are all enjoying it good for them.... |

*sigh* labels again and how people feel the need to get someone in a box...can't people just be people who like what they like? The ones who enjoy certain names will enjoy it, the ones who don't...won't. There's no 'one size fits all' and never will be...there's no 'right answer', just personal preference. |

I always thought someone who slept around outside of a conventional "vanilla" relationship was called a cheater, regardless of sex.
To me, "slut" is no different to "stud" - they both refer to someone who likes sex and has multiple partners. The only difference is that "stud" is seen as a compliment and "slut" is not.
The majority of guys enjoy it when their partner is "slutty", right? Meaning naughty, horny, not shy or inhibited about sex.......well if that's slutty then a woman who is slutty is a slut, and if slutty isn't a bad thing then why should slut be?
I enjoy sex. A lot. I have multiple partners - sometimes all at once lol. If that makes me slutty then I'm a slut and proud of it, and I'll goddamn OWN being a slut because I live by MY definition of it, not someone else's.
It's only an insult if you allow it to be. So don't allow it to be. X |

In the vanilla world, where I live, people are very narrow minded and judgmental so I'd definetly be labelled a slut, if they knew about my "fantasy life". But I don't really care, it's my life for me to live as I wish.
I don't believe anyone is a slut, women enjoy sex with different people, nothing wrong with that at all. |

Yes I guess if women still consider the word 'slut' an offensive word, then the OP made a mistake. Have to admit, I am quite surprised on this thread that sexually liberated women who enjoy the freedom of having mulitiple partners, are offended by a word used to describe a woman who has multiple partners. Maybe it's the negative historical connotations, but shouldn't we be standing up to these outdated beliefs about sexual morality and be saying 'yes it's ok to be a slut'? Unless my definition of slut is wrong of course, and it really does mean something that's not nice.

In the dark ages when a woman had more than 2-3 partners she was considered a "slut"
A man was a stud
Nowadays people have 10-20 partners
I know a guy who was called a man whore in college because he had slept with over 50 girls
As long as you don't care what people say then it doesn't matter shit
I think you need to experiment and experience what you want as often as you want it
At the end of the day it's you who has to be happy with it |

I don't think anyone has a wrong definition of it. More that it's such a subjective term and people view language how they wish. I'm not quite sure what sexual liberation has to do with dislike of a word - it's fantastic if reclamation has happened for you but it doesn't mean those who haven't possess a backward viewpoint regarding sexual morality. |

When you grow up being called a slut by people because you're sexually liberated... when men don't get called the same thing if they're sexually liberated... when people use the word slut as a female-specific insult... when people use the word slut to say you don't deserve a 'nice' partner... when people call you a slut because you choose to have feelings for more than one person... when people call you a slut because you like sex clubs... when people call you a slut because you take your clothes off on the beach... when people call you a slut because you flirt with your friends... when people call you a slut because they just can't stand the thought of a woman enjoying sex with more than one person and for more than the purposes of creating babies...
Yeah. I'm not a slut. I'm not any of those negative thoughts that people have about me. I'm a sexually liberated person. Not a slut. I'm not a whore either - I don't charge money. (And 'man whore' is not the equivalent of 'slut').
I'm not a slut. I'm a non-monogamous person who has multiple relationships. Who enjoys kink. Who isn't ashamed of her body.
Slut isn't shorthand for that. 'Slut' is a word that is designed to control women's sexuality and make them out to be 'bad' or 'dirty'. |

Fair enough I realise that it's still considered an offensive word, even if the actually meaning is not offensive (i.e. having a number of partners). I was genuinely surprised by the reaction in the forum, because I've heard that word used so much on the swing scene and in a complimentary manner. |

If it's not derogatory, then why do people say things like 'she looked like a right slut' just because she was wearing revealing clothing? Or 'I wouldn't fuck that, she's a slut'. Or any other number of awful things?
Just because some consenting partners enjoy using the word within their relationship, doesn't mean it's ok just to use it as a 'compliment' to people you don't know.
I mean, if I called you a cunt, would you take it as a compliment? If I said 'oh it's ok, I call all my friends cunts' would you be like 'oh cool, I'm a cunt!' |

I'm sorry I don't wish to offend anyone. I did grow up being called a slut and battled for years with my desires for mulitiple partners and being told it was wrong and believing it was wrong. So it was wonderful when I joined the swing scene and was able to accept the real me and tell myself 'yes it is ok to be a slut, and being a slut is not bad'. I accept that many still regard it as an offensive word. |

Bad example - I know a number of people who use "cunt" as a term of endearment. The word is losing its shock value, as a result of being used, and owned. "Slut" is no different, really. The more we embrace it and not only shrug it off but take pride in it in the way that men take pride in being "studs", the sooner it will lose its negative power.
I totally get that when you have grown up being vilified with a particular word, it is hard to turn that around on your attackers. Hard to turn it around in your own mind even. But a slut is simply a woman who has embraced her sexual desires and indulges in them.........what is bad about that?
If you don't want to claim the word, give it a more positive meaning, or at least neutralise the stigma, fair enough. It is a rather divisive subject after all! Personally I accept it with pride, and I've even used it as a compliment to female friends for their sexual exploits.
At the end of the day it's a word: it has only as much power over you as YOU allow it. |

I hate the term slut or anything like that. To me, you just have people who enjoy sex more than others. While some people see it as something to be shared with one person only, others see it as a stress relief, a hobby, something to enjoy and push to the limits. And if having sex with more than one person (not necissarily at the same time but is an option ) is on that list, then let them enjoy the multitude of dick they want to get. It's also a great way of them finding that one person that gives them the muscle cramping, leg shaking, toe curling, having to bite the pillow to stop screaming, orgasm they deserve. |

How do you know if someone says it in a derogatory way?
Most of the times I've had it aimed at me, or heard it aimed at others, I felt it was derogatory. Most men I've heard say it in a 'nice' way to refer to women, I still feel it has come from an outdated notion of what women should like in bed.
I've said it before in fun and games with my girlfriend - and the only time I'm comfortable with using it or it being used towards me is if it's with another woman who I'm sexually involved with and who is as sexually open as me. In other words - I don't feel comfortable with men using it to describe women in any circumstance, unless it's specifically requested. |

In recent years I just don't feel that it has been used towards me in a derogatory way. I believe that those who have used that terminology with reference to me are friends and respect me. I don't know for sure, but nothing has led me to believe otherwise. I feel that I have always been perceptive to those who are disrespectful. It saddens me to hear that people on the swing scene are still using that term to cause insult. I personally am more than happy for any of the people I play with to use that term with me. But I respect those who find it doesn't sit comfortably with them, as we are all different. |

It is ridiculous, outdated views like this that make it hard for a woman to admit to liking sex let alone having it
You can keep your "fun" if you think women still ned to put up with this crap.
And that's my opinion hey steady on tiger we are not suggesting anyone is a slut. This subject came up in a cples group in a club hottub. We thought we would ask for opinions of the word on here."
And that's my opinion |

i think the great thing about here is that a girl can be whatever she wants to be in her own mind and nobody cares. i it is her fantasy to be 'a slut' the good on her!! If she doesnt like that word then she is just a swinger or whatever she likes to be refered to! |
Reply privately (closed, thread got too big)
"Slut isn't shorthand for that. 'Slut' is a word that is designed to control women's sexuality and make them out to be 'bad' or 'dirty'."
Exactly, in common parlance it is a negative word. And still is, despite this lifestyle becoming more an more acceptable. |

I've never called a woman a slut and don't intend to start. Women who enjoy sex and this scene are no different from men who enjoy sex and this scene; the way to describe us is people who enjoy sex or by the collective term "swingers" |

""hi guys, we have been thinking that in the vanilla world any woman having sex with a guy outside of a relationship would be called a slut"
Have you really been thinking ? "
Do get up to speed and read the whole post fella. This post stemmed from a group discussion about what the swinging world thought of the word and how it is used.
And ynges many in vanilla land would still consider women to be sluts. Not my words cum from a group discussion .
Here's me thinking swingers were open minded and we're able to discuss things openly and not get upset? |

Slut: a woman who has sexual relationships with a lot of men without any emotional involvement
It's one if those words that many are happy to reclaim, without the derogatory slant some put on it,
After reading the ethical slut I'm happy to identify as one.
For me, there's a difference between slut and slag.
The former being the above definition, the latter being someone that is less discriminate on who they choose for sex
But like all words, they are just words and it's whether you associate them as negative or derogatory |

I would call myself promiscuous because I like having sex with different partners frequently. I do it for my own enjoyment but have no malice or bad intent towards the men I meet.
"Slut" usually has bit of negativity with associated with it in terms of intent (I think). But by your definition yes I'm a slut too. So are all women on Fab. |

An excellent post. May I add the use of the words cum slut as a term of endearment. As in "you took that caning like a good girl and now you're going to get your reward my little cum slut". |

Blimey, and now we've got to agree or we're closed minded.
You asked if women on here were sluts and you got opinions. But, as is often the case in the forums, an OP doesn't want differing opinions.
And since when did being a swinger make anyone immune to feeling upset about things?
And why would you assume anyone was upset? If anything I was angry at the outdated stereotype. The fact it had to be asked suggests closed mindedness to me. |

My ex used to call me a male slut or a male slag quite why I could never understand all through the relationship I was monogamous and never strayed yes I will admit to being alternative in how I enjoy my life but only when I am single If I'm in a relationship I'm old fashioned and as some on here may say boring xx |

Respect the feelings of those who find the word offensive. Respect the feelings of those who wish to reclaim the word for themselves and use it to describe their sexuality. We are all different. For me it's been a very interesting and informative discussion.

Actually the people who call other people sluts, are just jelious that the person they are aiming it at is having more fun than they are?
Might that be becouse anyone who uses the word with malintent is not the type of person that we would fuck? |

"I always considered a slut to be a whore or prostitute.
I wouldn't call a prostate/escorts a slag at all. They are just doing a job. I do believe it is rather good money as well some get £200 plus a hour for what us on fab do for free ( have sex with strangers ) |

Some are some arnt.
It depends on what your definition of a slag is.
Urban dictionary has a definition of the following
1. An individual who cares not for relationships beyond the realm of the sexual, these people sleep with many partners not caring about anything save for the moment of climax
That's a description of many on fab, but I think it's maybe a little unfair.
To me a slag is some one who isn't selective in their choices of sexual partner.
Some women on fab do have many partners, but have enough choice to be able to select the cream of the crop. So they may well have lots of partners but that's not to say they are easy.
Then again some women on fab are easy.
Also you get the ladies that are into gang bangs, I have seen queues of men stretching down the corridor all waiting for their chance with one lucky lady. How would you class these ladies
