To Wink or not to Wink ... that is the question?

We have now been on here a little while and getting to know the ropes (sometimes literally) and wondered if sending a Wink is something that most people do ... or do you just send a polite message with the subtext "we fancy the ass of you and would love to tangle in the undergrowth". Despite being a bit opinionated and gobby when you get to know us we are quite shy and I (Carla) find it particularly difficult making the first approach. S doesn't have the same problem but he isn't the one trawling the back alleys of Fab for excitement as he is up to his arse in knocking down walls at the moment and is knackered. |

I don't mind people winking, but I do tend to ignore them unless its someone I've already chatted to...
however they tend to be off people who aren't really what I'm looking for.... but at least if I don't delete them, they can't wink at me again |

We've been on and off here several times and in the early days winks are so much easier, it's a way of showing you are interested without the terror of rejection, lol. Useful tool |

I don't mind them, I've had some very interesting conversations that could very well lead to meets from a bit of mutual winking.
If I was out and liked the look of someone I wouldn't engage in conversation without any initial eye contact to gauge whether it would be well received or not. I personally look at winks as the online equivalent. |

I see a wink as 'I'm interested but don't have the time right now to send a message'
Although given that 90% of my winks come from blokes it may well just be a lazy hello |

I know lots of women that wink, because they want the man to initiate the conversation and just letting them know that they're interested.
You ladies can wink away as far as I'm concerned

You Dont Need to Know, right now |
As a solo female who only meets solo males, I don't even look at who has winked me. There are so many thousands of people in my 'potential meet' list, and so many better ways to choose who to interact with. In fact, I would disable the option to wink at me, if this feature was available.
However, I think winks could work better for groups who have a smaller list of potential meets (e.g. couples-looking-for-same and bisexual-solo-females-looking-for-same). |

So the general opinion seems to be don't bother to wink ... no beating about the bush and just spit it out so to speak. Gawd I've just realised that the last part of that sentence is filled with sexual innuendo ... will have to go take my pills. S |

winking is not lazy, if we like a profile but not sure if they will like us due to what they ask for, we wink them, it then gives them a choice to look at us and reply if it suits them or not if they dont |

I never send winks as I find they get ignored even more than messages. And when I've received a wink and messaged the sender, 9 times out of 10 that message gets ignored too.
Winks are bullshit |
