1 if the name was a 'burden' or affected the owner of it due to it being taken as feminine, I would imagine he would counteract by acting over masculine and giving you a firmer handshake

2 Your Op was if they could be trusted, not if they could shake hands properly, why would their name affect this?

3 Either way its nonsense

"I'm not confused and I have a unisex name. In fact I chose it myself and changed my name by deed pole.

Why would my choice of name indicate that I can't be trusted? Exactly, so why did you change to unisex name?

Because I preferred it. I like the sound of it better. Yes that's cool. Just as I've said on the whole I find unisex name bearers to be in decisive and confuse matters

You must be VERY easily confused then.

I fail to see why it even matters to you if someone is male or female. You'll find your life improves immeasurably if you don't let yourself be concerned about that. Read posts above. It's not a gender issue

You haven't mentioned once what the 'issue' is, just told people to do their own research.

Or is the 'issue' that someone doesn't shake hands how you want them to shake hands? Not at all. Just the alarm bells ring when unisex name rings out. Give it a week . And return your findings...

I can't return my findings if I don't know what my hypothesis is. Assess and evaluate bearers of unisex names and thee behaviour.

their behaviour in what particular regard?..let me get this straight..you are asking if others have found that people with unisex names are untrustworthy, and also suspiciously limp handshakes?..have i got that right? if so, then can we put an end to your puzzlement with a simple answer. No. No I was asking the question my reserve over the years favours them to be confused wouldn't say untrustworthy in most cases. Was throwing it to the Fab legions "

What do you think people with unisex names are confused about?

Do you think that there's a scientific way to measure if our handshakes are firm enough? Perhaps that's a way we could decide if people with unisex names are confused?

I've met heaps of people with unisex names. For the most part they all seemed pretty normal. And if they are confused I very highly doubt it has anything to do with their name. Plenty of people with male/female names who are also confused.

I think whether or not you can be trusted has nothing to do with your name and more to do with you as a person and how you act and behave.

I honestly don't get why people are still hung up on unisex names or a guy having a "girls" name and vice versa. It's just a name I don't see the need to label it with one gender.

Yes I am aware but as I said I think names have nothing to do with you as a person as your parents chose it before you formed a personality and a lot of people change their names or use fake names so I think it holds no relevance to the person.

I'm not saying it is. But a name after all is just a label we are given so others can identify us in a "unique" way.

Most people's names mean nothing to them, others do.

When someone tells me their name I think nothing of it. Just this is "Person XYZ" it holds no relevance to me personally as I've met all kinds of people whose name may have fitted them and others who didn't.

Unless we were named after our most noticeable personality trait I don't think it holds much relevance to them.

Yes I am aware but as I said I think names have nothing to do with you as a person as your parents chose it before you formed a personality and a lot of people change their names or use fake names so I think it holds no relevance to the person.

~Mia Yes growing up with a unisex therfore having a bearing. You can't just fleetingly say it's black and white.....

~Mia Now you have been made more aware of unisex names. At your leisure examine their traits. I'll be interested in any feed back . As before they just a person to you.

I've always been aware of unisex names. And I examine everyone's traits. And I've never noticed people with unisex names all sharing one personality trait. Just like everyone else they all have similarities and differences. Yes airing on the side of confusion the traits with unisex names . As say keep an open mind as go forward now. Your findings will be interesting. "

My findings are that they are still normal functioning people despite having a unisex name.

Now what?

"I've met heaps of people with unisex names.

Here's an interesting one for you. Knew a couple where guy and girl were both called Lee. Imagine shouting your partners name during sex when it's also your own name.

(For avoidance of doubt, my confusion is not down to my name, which is entirely gender specific.)

This is one of the weirdest threads I've read.

I have a unisex name. I shorten it. And it's a man's name. The only confusion I've had is when people question the male spelling instead of me choosing the female spelling.

I don't think it makes me untrustworthy. It's all a bit of a non issue.

Type "Ruby name" into a well-known search engine.

Top results: "Ruby is a predominantly feminine given name taken from the name of the gemstone ruby"; "Ruby: Meaning, origin, and popularity of the girl's name Ruby"

Just because the occasional person of the opposite sex is called something doesn't make it a unisex name.

Do you mean the guy who is actually called Rupert, but Ruby is a nickname? Because that's not the same thing now is it. Type in unisex names to a search engine. You'll find Ruby there pride of place ensconced amongst unisex names. How confused are you! !!!!!!!

Is Shane a unisex name? Is Gareth?"

Ruby is unisex.

"I don't understand. Confused about what?

(For avoidance of doubt, my confusion is not down to my name, which is entirely gender specific.)

Do your own research. I throw a question to the floor on my findings and I'm expected to speak for every uni seed named person I don't know. Embrace the fact you are unisex named liberated...

How can I research something when I don't know what that something is? So I'll repeat my question: you think they are confused about what? Sexuality? Gender identity? What to have for tea? This has been covered in thread time n time again. Re read . It's becoming boring....

I've re-read. I still don't understand what the hell you are on about. I suspect that's not a failure of comprehension on my part. See I know you say you don't have a unisex name. However the 1 you have chosen on here is. That being Ruby. Therfore backing my findings up that Unisex names tend to be confused or cause confusion.

Not really. Ruby isn't a unisex name by any stretch of the imagination.

No it isn't. You're getting confused with Reuben (confused! Fancy that). You haven't answered my question again. Gareth? Shane?

There are famous women called both of those names but I still wouldn't class them as unisex. names. I can't think of a single man called Ruby. It's not a unisex name.

And none of this proves anything, anyway...because at no point have you been clear about what exactly it is people with unisex names are supposed to be confused about. Which leads me to believe you can't explain, because it's bollocks.

My point, which you chose to wilfully ignore, was that a few people called a name does not make it unisex. Those were examples of that to counter your Ruby assertion.

"Ahhhhh this thread was so much better yesterday. xxx Agreed it's ran out of energy. Points Neen made. Points been listened to. If have any research findings feel free to pm me. My last post on the subject. Thanks for input folks.....

I did some research.

Both myself and my gorgeous gym instructor are not confused despite having gender neutral names. Confused those who can do. Those who can't teach. What did gym instructor really want to do. Research and share findings....

Damn... I didn't realise that teaching was an indicator of confusion.

Maybe I am confused after all.

Do you think that teaching professions have a higher than normal number of gender neutral names? Who knows once again . I urge you to research. Boring now. Circles and going round springs to mind....

Hang on my mum was a teacher n she has my surname. xxx 2 wrongs don't make a right. "

No but I does sometimes cum before e. xxx

But it does. As you chose it. Therfore you back up my argument that unisex named are confused. You most certainly are and element untrustworthy as trying to fib regards Ruby not being a unisex name when clearly is.

I've typed exactly that into a search engine and got for the top results an English unisex names generator which gives you the male and female versions of a name "male name: Reuben, Rubin....female name: Ruby, Rubina" and a load of mumsnet (or similar) posts going "for gods sake don't call your baby boy Ruby, it's a girl's name".

So why would I become inherently untrustworthy as a result of a username which I've used online for approximately the past year?

This is the weirdest post.. are you asking if unisex names cause confusion? Or if people with unisex names are confused? And if the latter.. confused about what?

I have a unisex name and the only thing I am confused about is your post
