It's not illegal but (in my opinion) it's definitely wrong, waaaaayyyyyy wrong, I'm Irish and I've a big family, my dads got 10 brothers and 4 sisters, my moms one of 9, so I've a serious amount of cousins, but still, it's just wrong, on so may levels. It's not illegal. Hasn't the concern been that, if two 1st cousins have children together, there is more chance of health problems for the child as they're so close genetically. |

I cant see the problem with it .. but if its with a cousin you grew up with .. I would have thought you would be more like brother and sister. If its a cousin you have never met or havent seen in years then its possible to fall in love. If its a legal then why not.

It has something to do with Mitochondrial DNA - which is only passed on from mother to child - therefore, if both your mothers are sisters, you will share Mitochondrial DNA - which can lead to health problems in any offspring you may produce. |

I guess it depends on the dynamic. If you're really close & grew up with each other then it's a little incestuous, but if you're family aren't close knit & you barely know each other then I can't see the problem.

Yes.... for me.... as mines been dead 15 years (though he was much older I do remember him as pretty liberal but....). So as long as consenting and of age, technically fine.

I grew up with extremely close family friends, my mum's best friend had four kids. We went to the same school, would always be at each other's houses, days out were always a two-family affair, we even had family holidays together. They were like extra sisters right through til after I left school. My cousins, on the other hand, I haven't seen for over 30 years. Which would it be morally wrong for me to have sex with?
