As I have replied to the last 20 threads on this word; it is a perfectly good word, to describe what it describes.

It was only in the 18th century that it started to become a vulgar word; previously it was simply the name of a body part.

It appears in such works as Chaucer, ( variously spelled counte and quente - both were pronounced as cunt in old English)

It doesn't bother me although I did tell a couple of young lads off for using it the other day but that's because my 4 year old was in hearing range, I would have done the same with any swear word they used, they were happy enough to apologise to her, they simply didn't see her

Can someone who finds 'cunt' offensive to the extreme please explain why it's any worse than any other swear word, it's no more offensive than fuck, wank or cock. While on the subject what is a slang term for the male genitailia that offends you equally as much, as surely you wouldn't want to appear to be sexist and only be offended by the womans equivilent.

I would call you a cunt but you lack both the depth and the warmth to be one!!!!

The 'C'Bomb (as I like to call it in polite company) is a catch all term used to describe the vagina and vulva as a whole (not a hole....that's another conversation). It was actually a medical term in days of yore. Vagina actually means in a purely literal sense, 'Sword Sheath'. It is thought that the 'C Bomb' became taboo when it became associated with mysogyny.

I would like to claim to be a clever 'C Bomb' but I googled it

"Can someone who finds 'cunt' offensive to the extreme please explain why it's any worse than any other swear word, it's no more offensive than fuck, wank or cock. While on the subject what is a slang term for the male genitailia that offends you equally as much, as surely you wouldn't want to appear to be sexist and only be offended by the womans equivilent.

I would call you a cunt but you lack both the depth and the warmth to be one!!!!

Bloody hell! Wind your neck in!

Seriously though... You called it "vulgar and distasteful". Never mind swearwords, what is your word of choice when referring to your genitals in an intimate setting?

My Mary?

Hey sweetie how's it goin

Hey lovely. Everything is good thanks. How are things with your fine self?

Things are good.. busy week but it's the wknd now you ? X

You are always busy . Mine's been more on the quiet sound. In need of some fun I think x

Yeah no rest for the wicked lol fun sounds good

Haha no. You should pity my company... Apparently I lack any warmth and depth because I don't like the word c**t

Rubbish!!! I've checked both those vitals and can confirm toasty and fits just right

Will you two get a bloody room? "

What again??! Aw go on then..

I only tend to use it when someone has been a fucktard of the highest degree, when no other word will do, and even then I only use it in the form of the game of thrones quote " there's no cure for being a cunt". I think it's one of those words that's not used often enough to still be a shock when it is said x

There was a good use of this word which came from the cricketing world - i.e. ' sledging '

Back in the time when gentlemen were gentlemen an English batsman was called a cunt by an Australian opponent. After the days play ended, the English captain knocked on the Australian teams door and made a complaint, only for the Australian captain to come up,with the following quote to his fellow teammates - ' oh, you lot, which of you cunts, called this cunt a cunt , !!!!!!

"The C words origins are Anglo Saxon I believe and come from the name for a warriors sword sheath. not many of those about these days. "

Actually ancient German ( and Nordic) and simply meant vagina, as it does today. There is no connection between sword sheaths and cunts ( kunta, Konya, Kunte, kont, conte, etc) in the Germanic languages.

The theory that it is connected to the Latin " cunnus" ( vulva or vagina - also slang Latin for tart or prostitute) has been discounted.

Also confused with the fact that vagina in Latin means sheath ( of a sword or dagger) but not cunt, but the word vagina was adopted as the "official medical" term used for a cunt.

Having said that, I remember farmers round my home county years back referring to sheaths as cunts: " put the knife back in its cunt ".

Ugh, no. Pussy is a sanitised childish term, too Americanised and unsexy for us.

Sex should be filthy, it's about cock and cunt, not dick and pussy. But as always, it's really all about personal preference.

Well, obviously. Anyone who insists on using language that others find offensive in their company is being unnecessarily rude.

Its derivitive is ancient.

Personally I much prefer it to pussy which always seems very childish. I'm a grown woman and love asking someone to lick/fuck my cunt.

Its not a word I use as an insult and don't really like hearing it as such.

"Cunt (Kunda): Derived from the Oriental Great Goddess Cunti, also known as The Yoni (vulva) of the Uni-verse. Other words coming from the same source are "cunabula", a cradle or first abode, "Cunina," a Roman Goddess who protected children in the cradle, "cuntipotent, having all powerful cunt-magic, "cunicle", a hole or passage, "cundy"; a culvert; also cunning, kenning and ken meaning knowledge, learning, insight, remembrance and wisdom. In ancient writings the meaning of the word was synonymous with "woman". Kunda : Saharan, Goddess of the Kuntahs a tribe who traced their beginnings to "the cleft of the Goddess". Kundas were children begotten out of wedlock and were considered divine gifts of the Goddess Kunda"
