Saw a documentary about this a few years back with Germaine Greer.
Turns out the word "vagina" comes from a word that means a sheeth to hold a man's sword.
The word "cunt" on the other hand historically was the correct term and only in the 20th century did it become offensive and replaced by the previously taboo "vagina"

I had a service user many years ago refer to her virgina as her play thing....she did say.. well that's what men like to do with it... coming from a lady in her 70s... we did have a giggle about it |
