Here goes what's going on in this world they change the blackboard to whiteboard then to wipe board how far does it go before we all get off our trolleys about racism they wouldent let us put flags in the pub on st George's day they changed Easter lol we are not racist in anyway or form but it is our country anyone else pissed off .

What traditions have been changed? How has Easter been changed? I'm a Christian and have seen no change in it during my lifetime except more emphasis on chocolate and less on Jesus. That's not because "they" are taking our traditions away from "us", it's because fewer people identify as Christian these days.

You can use the term interactive whiteboards if you prefer. I believe that smartboard is a brand name that has become synonymous with the item, much like tarmac with asphalt, tannoy with public announcement system and hoover with vacuum cleaner.

I can't see how people find it offensive that someone calls a blackboard a chalkboard instead....

I've been doing some furniture lately, turning small tables into chalkboard desks for kids to draw on...i advertise them as chalkboard tables or desks....not because I don't want to say blackboard, but because it's just what I call them.

In my school they called boards that we're black and used chalk "blackboards" and boards that were white and used markers "whiteboards." Seemed to make sense....

But it wasn't though, many things change in this country, but you are stating things that Rupert Murdoch has made you believe are down to religion, culture, ethnicity etc.

So many of you putting a dig in about blackboards so why do you think schools were told they couldn't call a blackboard by its name and had to change and this thread was not about the colour of people we have friends from all walks of life and love them all the same we just don't see why we have to keep changing the names of stuff just because it's black stupid if you ask me

Schools didn't stop using blackboards or calling them blackboards for political correctness reasons. That is a myth. And a shite one at that.

Dry wipe markers and white boards produce less mess (no chalk dust).

White boards became smart boards as technology moved in.

Quite a lot of educational establishments have a communication system called "blackboard" nobody's complained yet.

As far as I know any school that still uses a blackboard is at liberty to call it that. I don't actually know of a school that does though.

Which schools? I've got quite a few friends who are teachers in Gateshead. It's easily checked and then you can have your minds put at ease by getting confirmation from the people who actually work there that NONE OF THIS IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING.

The " Easter egg scandal" was last year, until it was pointed out that nothing had changed, and that " Easter eggs " have seldom ever been labeled as "Easter Eggs"; on the basis that an egg, sold around Easter time is, an Easter egg.

And bearing in mind that the chocolate egg is a relatively new phenomenon; traditionally, "Easter" eggs were real eggs, painted ( in the pagan tradition) to denote the coming of spring.

They're mostly Active boards these days. So don't write on them with a board marker! If they are the non-interactive version then you call it whatever colour it is. Blackboard if you're using chalk; whiteboard if you're using board markers. Some manufacturers call them drywipe boards because that's how they're used but whiteboard is still the most common. A quick trip to Google rather than getting my knickers in a twist over a non news story confirmed it.

I have children and they write on WHITEboards, I even just checked with them to make sure. I go to uni and a couple of my lecturers use WHITEboards, but some now use those screen things. They have not been renamed to wipeboards

I googled egg day, like you said, and found nothing on the first page apart from the fact there is actually a World Egg Day in October, which has nothing to do with Easter. Several people have posted that they use the phrases 'blackboards' and 'whiteboards' at school and college, without censure. The only proof you have posted is 'I know its true so ner!'.
