Love that period of Genesis, Suppers ready flies by considering it's 23 odd minutes!

A joy to find female early Genesis fans. A joy to find any early Genesis fans on Fabs!

"Horizons (on the other side to suppers ready) steve hackett instrumetal - beautiful tune."

Could not agree more. He still is touring with his own and Genesis material, and he is the most underrated musican outside his peer group. He has a cracking band as well. Spectral Mornings one of his very best, and don't forget the Classical side as well. His brother John is an outstanding flautist.

would personally say it went wrong when Hackett left, Trick of the Tail and Wind and Wuthering have some great moments, Ripples, Afterglow, Blood on the Rooftops, once there were 3 left the poppies side took over.

Very true. Anyone who can't get to a gig should check out the Genesis Revisited DVDs.

I still have the vinyl and CD versions of Spectral Mornings. They are available online. I also have signed vinyl copies of Voyage of the Acolyte and Please Don't Touch. His website is good but I think he lost his early stuff after his acrimonious split from Camino Records.

Really like Peter Gabriel's 3rd solo album, think its unofficially known as 'Melt' by his fans because his face looks like its melting on the cover. Opening track 'Intruder' is probably my favourite by him. quite disturbing, but brilliant.

Got a couple of early genesis albums (foxtrot, selling England...) some great stiff but find them quite patchy, not a massive prog fan though I do like Van Der Graaf Generator.

Peter Gabriel best thing he did was leave Genesis!! Genius talent he needed to fly alone. Shame what happened to them after he left!! First rule in Rock n roll never let the drummer sing and front the band!!

"Early marillion had the same prog rock edginess that early genesis had"

Indeed. Steve Rothery is heavily influenced by Steve Hackett and joined him on stage for the guitar solo at the end of the Lamia during 2013 Genesis Re-visited. They are our local heroes in Aylesbury, and always sell-out wherever they play.

It's his "mid period" stuff that got tied up, the Charisma albums passed to Virgin EMI, and he has worked on remastered editions with them. The mid period stuff is available still through Inside Out music, now that the dust has settled on the divorce.

I dispute that. It just became a different band and then another band after that... You have to admire that sort of regeneration...
