Dp you think this is true?
A new book, How Men Age, offers a defence of the pudgy dad, suggesting that larger fathers are healthier and more attractive than their skinny counterparts
Your thoughts please
And yes i fall into that category |

being overweight is classed as healthier than being underweight, overall. these people live longer though, that's all they're going off.
4 things are needed to extend life and have a healthier body, not smoking, good diet, enough exercise, and minimum alcohol. the more of these you do the better quality of life you will have, health wise.
as for dad bod, it wouldn't put me off someone i liked at all. i'd rather perv over someone gym fit but i'm realistic in that most people have an average body and there are more ways than looks to be sexy. although i'd have to find a guys overall looks attractive as well for NSA.

I wonder whether it's talking about the whole "feeling great in the skin you are in!"
Might not be specific relavent to a dad bod but maybe! |

I have a dad bod, overweight but am healthy and have lost some as I train and teach Karate every week.
I findladies are beautiful no matter what shape or size as this is how I was brought up by my mother.
So I don't see why it shouldn't be the same for guys.
You can still be healthy and overweight (like me)

"Nothing wrong with a dad bod but what makes you say it's healthier?"
being slightly overweight is healthier than being underweight or of the proper BMI, being of the normal BMI carries the same risks as being obese, surprisingly.
even a type 2 diabetic within normal BMI will die sooner than one who is moderately overweight.
it's going off when you will die though, not quality of life. 40 year study. |

I would agree with being overweight being healthier than underweight. The problems with studies like this though is what is classed as overweight. At my physical peak is was 6ft 1 and 14 stone 12 which was classed as almost obese on some scales despite me being in the shape of my life.
Very interesting study though thanks for the info guys |

"It also depends how the fitness level are, as that is a sign how good the heart is."
Completely agree to base health purely on weight just will not work |

I used to have a dad bod, then I lost 2 stone and I'm now optimum weight for my height and feeling great. I realise that BMI is absolute rubbish but I take my level of health as how good I feel and I certainly feel (and I think look) better now than I have done possibly ever

And if he does gym then he's not doing something he should be!! "
That's so true I find it hard when I've got my daughter and between work to goto gym I do when I can but not as often as I'd like |

My bmi is crap, but as I have never smoked, rarely drink loads & have healthy internal organs I'll stick to a dadish bod, that's not to say I wouldn't mind a slightly smaller dadish bod though & I am working on it slowly, difficult at my age though especially as I think the best place for salad ingredients is left in the ground

"What would you class as a dad bod? Some one like Ed Balls build ?"
not gym fit but also not obese. ed balls possibly yes, although on here he might class himself as the rugby type. |

I was casually observing dad bods at the pool last night. I was wondering if they'd changed in their view of themselves since having kids. Someone else is at the centre of their world now. Do they look back fondly at their younger selves or just love the change those kids have brought. |
