It just seems that the norm (and therefore the cliche) is a male dom and a female sub. It's just something we've both done to death in previous relationships and now prefer the switch |

I would consider myself a domme and a top.

I'm dominant to an extent I like to cause simultaneous pain and pleasure with those whose boundaries allow it. I like to be demanding and be obeyed but not to the point of humiliation etc.

My wife is assertive and confident, even to the point of intimidating people.

Just because someone is submissive doesn't mean that they are not confident. I'm incredibly confident but in the bedroom I like to be tied up, hair pulled, spanked etc etc luckily the Mr enjoys doing the above to me

Same for me. I'm a confident, dominant woman in my every day life so to let go and allow someone to dominate me is a release.
I think you'll find that with a lot of truly submissive women. Some, of course just say they are submissive instead of admitting they are just lazy in the bedroom? Maybe this is what you have encountered op? |

Totally agreed.
I'd say that in regards to the bdsm lifestyle etc that a submissive person is confident as they have identified what turns them on and they go out and embrace that.
That's one definition of confidence to me. |

I am domme with my hubby but he's recently started to get a little more Dom in the bedroom.
With my daddy Dom I am submissive with slave and bratty tendencies.
I'm very confident in my own skin and mind (like being naked in clubs)
I'm happiest within myself if I'm being dommed on a daily basis.
I am only submissive with hubby and dom though. |
