It's simply because it's not as common as blonde/brunette and rarity is attractive.

Dark hair here.....OK well on the way to grey! But when younger I grew a beard a few times.....always had ginger buts in it....but pubes always dark. Still are if I don't keep em smooth!

I have brown hair (with some shades of grey creeping in), but my pubes are as ginger as they come. The colour of fire, you might say. Ladies, come warm yourselves around my crotch!
